I removed my power steering resevoir to have it chromed the other day and while removing it managed to spill some of the fluid.
What make/varient of fluid do I need to buy to top it up with?
Thanks
dextron type 3 fluid- carefull what you chrome plate chromed surfaces do not dissipate heat as well as flat/black surfaces
i thought it was dex2?
it says on the cap.
i believe its type 2 or 4 for auto gearbox and 3 for p/s

Owners manual and cap say Dextron II ATF fluid
Dont top up with DEX III as II and III are not compatable.
toyota type t-iv atf in the tranny only, NOT dex 2 or 4.

says on label
for automatic transmission gear boxes and torque convertors
also suitable for power steering pumps

John:flame Dev who me?
i have not long had a auto box flush done at cw`s
might have to do it again if i get a tc and gears sorted out
bought the dextron 2 for power steering only
Dexron II is the 'standard' fluid for nearly ALL power steering and
Auto' Transmissions.(it's the stuff 'WE'/all car spares shops
stock on the shelf)
Some Citroens and I believe Jags (and poss' some more) have
a weird P'S' fluid.
AND OF COURSE, our Soop ATF has been 'UPPED' from II or III to
the now recommended IV.

OK, I am a bit confused now I have just been to Halfrauds and in the book there it recomends Dexron III fluid for the Supra 93>.
Should I or should I not put this in my power steering Resevoir?
All it says on the the P/S cap is Dexron it does not say either ii or iii and I can not find any reference to it in the owners manual!
Thanks
Kevin
I would think Dexron III is an upgraded version of II
(although TYPE IV isn't - or so they say ?)
It's rather like DOT3 Brake/clutch fluid, then DOT4, now DOT5
they are each newer/more heat resistant blah blah blah.
When the Supra came out in '93 I don't think Dexron III even
existed (?) I'm pretty sure DOT5 didn't (or, wasn't widely available)
I think TYPE IV is crucial for the auto' box 'cos of some seal problem (?)
But, I don't think Dexron II is gonna' hurt the P'S' system..

Kevin my owners Manual page 159
