Multichangers RCA's go to the headunit and then back out to the amplifier surely......

Multichanges I have seen are generally a DIN style plug that goes into your headunit and is controlled from here...

what make and model is the headunit and changer?

Dito multichanger to headunit, headunit to amp.

The noise you are getting is the 'open' current the multichanger is sending waiting for the headunit to tell it what to do - amps don't control cd's or skip tracks!

should be a set of rca's and a multichanger control cable running to the headunit and then a rca's back out to the amps.
