hey<,

Just had some new gear installed into my car

alpine 9833 going in tommorrow to finish off the install
fronts 16.5cm alpine type r comps
rears 16.5cm infinity coaxails
4channel amp to run above
2 12" alpine type r subs
amp to power these

my questions are:)

1) i have used 4awg down the car, this should be enough shoudlnt it, though one question i have what thickness of cable should be used from the sub amplifier to the inputs on each of the subwoofers themselves... would thick speaker wire be ok or shud i be using 8awg,

2) what would be the best crossover setting you reckon and should i use the settings on the amps or the headunit?

3) the standard tweeters are still running however, wud it make a huge difference if they stayed playing on top of everything else, how easy is it to disconenct them, is it one of the wires i need to cut...or do i have to get the tweeters out and cut them like that. its a toyota supra. Im pretty sure keeping the tweeters in would mess the clarity up but not sure..just not sure how to disconnect them.

anyway ill keep the queastions to a minimum and hopefully u can help me out

thx :)

Hey.

1- 4 gauge wire is fine. You can even run just one of these and split it into 2 8 gauge wires, one for each amp.

2- I'm not to hot on crossovers settings. I just choose the right setting by ear on that one.

3- 8 gauge would be too big i think. I beleive it's 12 or 16 gauge that you need. If your wires will be on display at all, ie from the amp, then you might want to buy fancy lookin' wire. If you wont see it then don't worry how it looks because that affects the price.

1) Yeah 4 awg should be okay...but to accuratley work this out you need to work out what your total amp draw is..

As Ruff Rider says you can have one run of 4awg then split to 2 x 8awg runs... however dont forget to fuse...

2) For the fronts, set it on a high pass around 70 or 80 Hz
For the sub on a low pass around 60 or 70 Hz

I would play around with these and figure out which intergrates better.

3) I doubt your sub would take an 8awg wire... however it might just do. once again personally I would go for something around 12 or 16 as Ruff Rider has advised.
