We've got a '62 Daimler Dart with a 2.5L v8 engine that has got a cracked cast exhaust mani. It's was was brazed years ago and has held on all this time (probably about 20 years now) but I think it's beyond repair now. Could get it welded I suppose, but it would need a lot of cleaning up to get the braze out first. :(

Any engineering advice out there?

Or does anyone know where to get a replacement?

Cheers,

you could try norman motors they do all sorts for jags (etype stuff and all that) we use them quite alot.

If you can find a good used manifold, even if you have to pay daft money, it will be better than chasing your tail trying to fix it. It's bad enough stuff to weld at the best of times, but with braze and carbon in the crack you will probably struggle to effectively weld old cast iron. Can you fabricate two tubular manifolds, or is it not worth it? A decent stainless header fabricators should be able to sort you out, but it won't be cheap unless someone has already had jigs done you can borrow? I presume the Daimler 250 (Mk 2 Jag shape) doesnt use the same manifolds...?

Cheers Chris - that's what we're afraid of. Going to be expensive though - parts for these are like rocking-horse shit these days. :(

The saloon ones don't fit unfortunately. The bend is wrong.

Ah well, time to bend the plastic I think.

This guy is who you should speak to. Not cheap but he's a craftsman.

Cheers all.

Managed to source one in the end (actually we're getting the pair sorted). Got it from someone we'd both thought had given up on the Dart scene but is still very active.

Excellent, glad you got sorted, it's amazing what stuff is around if only you know where to ask.
