Headlamp refurb pics

as most of you know I stripped my headlamps down completely, resprayed the insides to satin black, polished the clear plastic bits and put them all back together.

I have now posted a full explanation of how to do it along with pictures of the process. Once I have a few pictures of the lights on the car I will post them up as well.

Go to www.mkivsupra.net and then look at the resources menu and go to technical reference and the link is listed there.

Any questions or queries on it let me know.

I used Halfords primer and halfords satin black both in spray can form. I worked on the principle that it wont get that hot in the headlamp and that the paint should survive pretty well. I was also happy to lose some of the reflective capabilities of the shiney bit as I hardly ever drive at night so I dont need perfect headlamps, but then Im not sure it would even affect it that much.

Quote: from branners on 9:25 am on Aug. 6, 2001[br]not sure if you have seen the 1998 onwards lights, they have black insides and they look much better. I will track down some pictures and post them here so you can see the difference.

Nope, I haven't seen it. I thought you meant the bit inside the engine bay, i.e., the back of the lights, Duh!

I need to see them, it sounds yuchy.

the 98 onwards cars all have the blacked out bits on the headlamps, they also have clearer glass to you can see the insides of the lights much better.

There is a guy in the states who stripped his down and sprayed the insides red, looked a bit Ferrari 360ish, and Ibrar did his in the same blue as his body work but he didnt like it so he went all black on it as well.
