Colour suggestions.

I'm having a bit of turmoil regarding the colour of my (soon to be finished) Trd wide aerotop. Its currently stock toyota pink/red. I was trying to think of a colour thats close enough to the original red to not have to strip the car for a full respray, yet different enough to notice. Any ideas/pics?

I think that red paint suffers much more than other colours, I seem to remember reading somewhere it was to do with the pigments' UV stability. Definitely Ford red suffered the same embarrassment if you didn't polish it often enough.

I correct myself, it's not actually the pigment UV tolerance per-se:

Colors closer to red (longer wavelength) fade faster than those near blue (shorter wavelength). Remember, the "color" you see is the wavelength(s) reflected towards your eye. Others are absorbed by the paint. Red paint oxidizes particularly badly because it's red. No, really:

that means it absorbs all the high-energy light at the blue end of the

spectrum and reflects the low-energy light at the red end.

Thus endeth the Physics lesson for today.

Edit: Man that Chevvy red looks sweet :D

I'll be doing a full progress report with pics later in the week. Basically my body shop guy has had the kit for a few weeks to prep as much as possible. After a trial fit, the kit fitted spot on, but we were concerned with the finish of the gel coat as its really wavey in places with loads of low spots. So by now the finish should be like glass! My car is stripped ready for fitting and paint and i was supposed to take it over last week however its developed a fault whilst its been sat in my yard. Wont run properly. So its going over to be fitted on wednesday, and he's doing it in one hit and thinks it should be 1-2 weeks max. I think i will be going for that corvette red. Looks nice!
