Thats a bit strange that, i'd say that my bpu soop is quicker all round than my old 340 bhp cossie, but that does sound like alot of torque, cant remember what my old cossie's figure was. Even if his is a bit quicker, yours looks alot better. :)

I went against a Sierra Cosworth on aq rolling road session earlier this year.

The Cossie beat me (just) 368.53 bhp 387.59 ft-lbs against my 366.5 bhp 368.84 ft-lbs. I took solace in the fact that my engine was probably producing more power than his but had more transmission losses being an automatic :D

Mike

Edit the Cossies dyno chart is here:

I really dont remember my old cossie being stronger at the bottom than my soop, you'd have thought that if a soop and a cossie had around the same bhp, that the soop would have more torque with the litre's advantage. Obviously not !

Really can't see that torque figure being correct from a 2 litre engine with that much power!

why not?

Maybe he's running 2 bar boost and his cam timing forces max power to be delivered early on (mediocre VE at high revs)

Ask him what sort of revs correspond to these max torque and power figures

we've got a few cossies in blackpool that are running this kind of power & more, one being the one that beat Mike on the rollers & another that destroyed me in a straight line when mine was still stock. since i went bpu i've come up against one since that was running similar power to the supe & i could slowly pull away.

just take comfort in the fact that few will last running that power consistently ;) whereas yours will

so what's your e-manage doing for you? if you've already got a boost controller is it just like a fuelling remao but with jspec injectors still?

most of them blow up & the majority are shite?

They are shite when they blow and unfortunately the majority of them do blow up :(

My cossie view is founded after racing countless numbers of sierra cosworths on private test tracks on the roll and at drag strips in various cars and watching each one have smoke bellowing out of the engine bay or back. I remember one pulling up beside me @ Santa Pod when I had a 200SX, got ready to launch, revved the nuts off his car and then it just when pffffft and stopped, the lights went green and I was either too distracted or laughing too much to launch my car.

Jamie is right though - too many of them have been ruined by 1990s bleed valve chavs (al la renault 5 gt turbos) who have no idea on how to tune them and just whack the boost up and hope.

They are also very agricultural and flimsy cars when compared to japanese build quality.

Rod also has a 200 shot of nitrous to help him along & has spent 9 years upgrading every part of his engine! that's not really your average project!

like i said earlier, we have loads round here & they are always having work done to rebuild or replace, then for a little while they are rapid again - there are a couple who have got big power & have been running reliably for a couple of years now apparently

i share your cossie view hadyn, but you've still got to be pissed off losing to one if it happens, even if it's the week before his rebuild ;)
