Just started a fibreglass install on my supra. I had a simple vinyl covered MDF install and it looked good, but it was flat and square, a bit plain. It consisted of 1x MRD-M605 amp, 2x SWS-1222D subs, 1x MRV-F345 and a 1.2 farad power cap. I'm using the same components but also fitting nitrous oxide so have to fit a 10lb bottle in now too.

I started with the sub enclosures which are fixed to the chasis. Then constructed the amp windows and centre panels. Covered the whole thing in large plasic sacks so that it could be removed easily and started laying glass fibre. The plastic sacks made it difficult to work the glass fibre because it kept bubbling and i have a lot of work to do to smoothe it out now.

The black dots in the picture indicate areas that need flatening. This probably means cutting out and patching up, Doh! Hopefully will have progress to report tomorrow.

Looks good, you could rub the fibreglass down and use bodyfiller to make it smooth.
Are you going to paint it ?

Yeah will be rubbing it down and bodyfiller and paint. These bubbles need some serious attention though so have to cut and patch unfortunately.

Took the shell out of my car this morning and it caused a bit of damage as it bonded to the mould. Was going to reinforce the back side anyway. When i sanded/grinded back the bubbly bits it left some holes which took ages to fill. Still have a small section to fibreglass / reinforce tomorrow then it's time to get out the bodyfiller and the electric sander (no way i'm doing it by hand)!

The small sections to the rear at the sides were obstructing the boot so i cut them off and modified slightly. I know that i have made progress but it looks like i've taken a few steps backwards. Someone please tell me it will be worth it in the end!!!!

sometimes you have to take steps back, to make steps forward.

for that size holes, id use some more fibreglass over the back

Yeah them holes are covered. That was the worst. By the end of tomorrow, it will be smoothe! And by the end of the summer, the install will be finished!

Would do myself but don't have any spare notes as they all go in the petrol tank, which i'm sure has a hole in for the amount of miles i get out of it (then again, i do go really really fast sometimes:eyebrows: ).

You don't need air tools, get yourself an orbital sander and a detail sander much cheaper and will do the same job.
