Darren-K
is it safe to take an air filter off and drive for say half a mile ? ive got one of those crappy green mushroom jobs and when i boot it a bit i can hear a noise like the filter is trying to suck more air ? ive mentioned this before but now its getting on me nerves i want to take the filter off and drive for half a mile say to see if it makes the sucking noise when i boot it... is it safe ? Ray
1/2 a mile should be fine... ....but personally its best not to take the risk, all it takes is one leaf to get in there and it will cause problems!
Max Headroom
I had a HKS mushroom and it did make the whooshing sound like it was sucking in extra air, the filtration on it is absolutely terrible, thats why I went back to stock. Dont chance it with no filter on. So answer is NO!!

So answer is NO!! the noise stopped once the filter was gone then ? cos it does make that noise as you say ,like a strong sucking sound at higher revs. Jody from here offered me one to buy but i didnt buy it right there and then,. if anyone sees a stock filer for sale could they give me a shout please ? miko_supra
1/2 a mile with a pair of tights over the intake should be fine . I've got a stock filter you can buy, it's just the box and a used filter btw.

Should be safe to use something over the pipe instead of the filter for the sake of half a mile.
