Toyota UK Spec Brakes and Prices

Partly Technical I suppose.

Just got a quote back from my local dealer for UK Discs, Calipers and Pads which raised some interesting questions. Perhaps someone (I hope) has an answer.

I asked for a quote for Front and Rear Disks, Calipers and Pads for a 93 UK Supra JZA80 TT.

Answer:

There are general disks and 'handed' disks. So I asked for the 'handed' disks.

Prices (incl VAT):

Front RH Disk          £90.56

Front LH Disk          £86.98

Calipers (4 Pot)      £229.35 ea

Pads (4 off)            £70.99

Rear RH Disk          £113.18

Rear LH Disk          £113.18

Calipers RH            £229.35

Calipers LH            £290.41

Pads (4 off)           £65.35

Why, I asked, the difference between the front disks and the difference between the rear calipers.

The answer from Toyota - Don't know.

HELP - Does anyone have any idea why this is????

Thanks.

I agree it does seem wierd and I shall be following that up.

The discs are handed due 2 bein directionally ventilated

There was even a rumour that Toyota put them on the wrong way round with the left being on the right...I think the Yanks eventually decided it wasnt true...
