Ladies & Gentlemen...

This years Welsh National Motor Show is to be held at Chepstow on Saturday 26th August.
We have a fairly limited amount of space within the ground for car clubs, obviously we don't want 100 similar cars, the more varied and interesting the better, the car club cars will be given car passes for entry to the racecourse but not admission tickets, also the cars will obviously be in a secure area within the racecourse and will be on show...
If anyone would like to bring their car along and would like a car pass could you put your name and your car below and like I said, the more varied the better...

The Show is still partly being put together, but so far we have...

Opening the Show WBO & IBF Super Widdleweight Champion Joe Calzaghe.
Live Action Arena - Demo's from 'Steer From The Rear & 'Opposite Lock'.
D1 Cars.
DJ & MC live stage all day with entertainment etc..
Rally Car Experience.
4x4 Experience.
Helicopter rides.
Super Car Lawn.
Audio Village.
Family Fun Arena.
All the usual Trade Stands etc...

This year we just have use of the racecourse for Saturday, but next year we have it for the weekend and are planning all night bars etc, so hoping to make this an annual event...

Any questions, requests or anything I can help with please ask...

Apologies for this being my first post...
Cheers all...
Tobes.

Bring the Aristo along.... :)

Was in Chepstow yesterday for the Press Launch and managed to get more space for the Car Clubs...

Was very enjoyable, Mike Philips (Welsh Scrum Half) was there, as was Gwyndaf Evans, and his co-driver Huw Lewis, with their new Hankook sponsored Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9... Hankook are now sponsoring the show and doing a competition to win a new set of tyres to be fitted by them at the show for the winner, details to follow when web-site up and running... also Damien Cole with his ex McRae Scooby WRC and Jamie Lewis (Joe's girlfriend) were there among others...

There will be drifting and 'Off Road' demo's and passenger rides, also we've put together a small 'rally stage' within the circuit so will have a rally demo with passenger rides too...

Have also got Meguiars to sponsor a show and shine to be judged by Joe Calzaghe...

Am currently trying to negotiate to get all the car owners/drivers into the show for half price... I want to keep the cost down for the drivers as i'm the same as you guys, i have a Skyline (see below) and I always felt if I was bringing my car along I should get a bit of a discount, you are part of the show after all... well now i'm on the other side and can hopefully do something about it...
The current situation is that you can have a car pass and park within the circuit but it doesn't include admission (£12 in advance / £14 on the day), add to that £10 to enter the show and shine and it's best part of £25 already...
I'm trying to get the drivers/owners in for half the admission price, and if you want to enter the show and shine too then all included for £15... it's £10 off for the car club drivers/owners, passengers will still have to pay full admittance, will let you know...
Have also got exclusive use of the 'Advan Gate' for the Car Clubs only so you won't be queuing to get in but everyone must be there between 07:00 and 09:30 then the gates are shut (police instructions)

A couple of pics I took from yesterday - obviously the Skyline is mine...

Hey all, some good news...
have got agreement on the half price admission for the 'Car Club' owners and made the Meguiars Show & Shine bigger and better...

All 'Car Club Cars' will get free entry into the Racecourse but not admittance to the show.
'Car Club' drivers only can now have admittance to the show for just £6.
The Meguiars Show and Shine is £10 to enter on the day, but if purchased with an admission ticket the total cost will only be £15.
This only applies if bought in advance.

The Meguiars Show and Shine is will now be split into 3 Classes...
Best European Car at Show.
Best Japanese Car at Show.
Best American Car at Show.
Each class will win a trophy and prize.
One of the three class winners will win Best at Show (hoping to get Joe Calzaghe to judge the final 3) and will win another trophy and £250.
The trophy for the 'Best at Show' will be a 5ft Nascar style trophy (more info/pics as soon as I can) this will have the drivers name engraved on it and will be presented on the day to the winner and will become an annual event.
On the grounds this may prove very hard for the winner to take home it has been decided the winner will take home a smaller replica/trophy to keep.

In addition to that i'm also trying to get Hankook Tyres to sponsor a 'Best Wheels at Show' class, the winner getting a trophy and a new set of Hankook tyres, Hankook are show sponsors already and will be there anyway so hoping the winner of 'Best Wheels' can get the tyres fitted at the show if they want to.
Will let you know if this is possible.

These prices apply to all passengers -
Admission is £14 on the day or £12 in advance (16yrs and over)
Junior concession is £10 on the day or £8 in advance (10yrs -15yrs)
2+2 Family Ticket concession is £40 on the day or £32 in advance
Under 9's FREE.

All the relevant forms for 'Car Clubs' will be available from the website which i'm assured will be operational within 48hrs...

All the 'Car Club' cars will be GREEN TRAFFIC and will have exclusive use of 'St Arvans Gate' from 07:00 to 09:30, this will mean you won't have to queue with the public traffic and will ease any congestion.
'St Arvans Gate' will be shut at 09:30 as instructed by the Traffic Police.

If anyone has any questions please ask...

Cheers all,

Toby. :D

Hey all, have some more good news...

Joe Clifford, the Editor of Banzai Magazine is going to judge Best Japanese Car at Show, and is also offering a years subscription to Banzai Magazine as an added prize...

Also have got conformation from Hankook they will sponsor the 'Best Wheels at Show' and will give the winner a new set of Hankook Tyres that can be fitted on the day if wanted....

Have found a pic of Chepstow Racecourse, i've (poorly) drawn RED around the area we've got for the Car Clubs it's approx 15,500 sq m....

Hey all...
Am thinking about adding a 'Best Club/Forum Stand' award and was wondering if it would be better to have a trophy or maybe a monetary prize to go towards to running of the Clubs forum or something, the problem with a club trophy is who will take it home...? What do you lot think....?
Will post this same question on a couple other forums and see what everyone thinks...

As a final thought, being someone who has done the shows etc and always thought we should get a slightly better deal (we are part of the show afterall) i've tried to implement a few ideas to favour us a bit like the the half price admission, an exclusive entrance to avoid any queueing and making the show and shine worth entering... If anyone has any ideas or suggestions we can maybe implement for this year, or any ideas for next year, bearing in mind next year will be over two days, please say so, I'll suggest everything to the powers that be and will try and do whatever is realistically feasible...

Cheers,

Toby. :)

To all...

I've been asked a quite few times now about the availability of camping this year, as some of you may know, we are planning camping next year with all night entertainment and bars etc as the show will be over two days, but we weren't planning on offering any camping this year.

As it would appear this show is going to be very popular and i've had a number of enquiries regarding camping this year (as all the Car Club Cars must be in place by 09.30) I have spoken with the venue and they have said that we can make use of the area within the Racecourse grounds on the left as you enter through St Arvan's Gate for camping for those who really need to camp over if they are travelling some distance, then you are very close to your cars.

This year only, as we weren't planning this, the venue has agreed to let those who want to camp over on the Friday night stay over free of charge (usually £5) i'm told there is a standpipe for water, but I don't know if power will be made available this year...

As this is a bit of a 'last minute' idea, those wishing to camp over on Friday night please write very clearly on the bottom of their entry forms and I will send them a Fri night pass for their cars along with their Saturday Car Club pass and the required tickets, cars without a Fri night pass will not be admitted into the grounds until 07.00 Saturday morning, so please let me know if you would like to do this, I don't want anyone stuck outside on Friday night...

Obviously I will be as flexible as possible with regards the camping, but camping space will be limited so will have to be on a 'first come' basis.

As always, any questions or anything I can help with please ask...

Cheers,

Toby.

Have also added a forum (bottom of page) for Wales Motor Show enquiries only, registration is instant, feel free to post any questions you may have, all questions posted will be answered as soon as possible.

I will also post lists of all 'Car Club' entries that have been received in the 'Car Club' forum, if you have sent off your entries and a week or so later you're not on the list of 'Car Club' entries, or if you have any questions please say so, I'd like to avoid any 'last minute' issues.

To all, having seen a few of the car lists on various forums, i've decided we could put on a 'Modified Car Paddock' within the show, so i'm looking for about 15 top modified show cars.

The owners of the cars chosen will receive a free ticket for the show and obviously all the cars will still be eligible for all the Show and Shine competitions.

Anyone who thinks their car could be in the Modified Car Paddock please post pics of your car in the thread i've set up here..

To all...

Just a quick reminder that I must have all entries to me by 10th Aug at the very latest, although obviously would be easier for me if it's not all 'last minute' so you have about 5 weeks before you must have sent off your entries for your 'Car Club' passes and any advance tickets you want...

I have noticed a degree of confusion regarding 'Car Clubs' and the related ticket prices, so let me take this opportunity clear this up quickly...

Entry to the 'Car Club Area' is free but only with a 'Car Club' pass, all 'Car Club' cars will get exclusive access to the 'Car Club Area' through St Arvan's Gate from from 07:00 to 09:30, this will mean you won't have to queue with the public traffic and will ease any congestion.
'St Arvans Gate' must, and will be shut at 09:30 as instructed by the Traffic Police.

All 'Car Club' traffic will be GREEN TRAFFIC (see map below).

Have done a small map, the 'Car Club Area' is shaded in Green.

http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/864/wmstrafficmanagementrevised7vo.th.jpg (http://img228.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wmstrafficmanagementrevised7vo.jpg) (Clicky)

Entry to the 'Car Club Area' is free to all 'Car Club' cars but must have a 'Car Club' pass which must be issued in advance, no cars will be allowed through St Arvan's Gate without a pass and 'Car Club' passes will NOT be issued on the day.

Entry to the rest of the show (through the turnstiles) is -
£6 for drivers of 'Car Club' cars.
£12 for passengers 16 and over
£8 for passengers 9yrs to 15yrs
Under 9's are FREE

All these are advance ticket sales only, the £6 'Car Club' drivers tickets will only be issued with a 'Car Club' pass.

Tickets can also be purchased on the day -
£14 for 16yrs and over.
£10 for 9yrs to 15yrs.
Under 9's FREE

It's also worth noting entry to The Meguiars Show & Shine is £10 on the day, but £9 in advance, so for drivers of 'Car Club' cars can have entry to The Meguiars Show & Shine and an admission ticket for £15 (obviously in advance)

If anyone is travelling some distance and think they may struggle to get to Chepstow by 09:30 then the venue has agreed to let those in on Fri evening and they can camp, the camping area is also through St Arvan's Gate but turn left once inside and head for the grassed area.
Anyone wishing to do this please say so on their entry forms.
There is NO charge for camping this year.

Car Club Entry forms...

Group Booking Form - http://www.walesmotorshow.com/pdf/carclubentry.pdf
Single Booking Form - http://www.walesmotorshow.com/pdf/indventry.pdf

Should anyone decide to come after the group booking form is sent off please use the single booking form and i'll add you to your club.

Any questions or anything I can help with please ask...

Toby.

Depends...

If you'd like to put your car forward for the 'Modified Car Paddock' and it's chosen then you can have a free ticket...

If you are coming along with members of the forum and don't want to get into the main show area then it's also free...

A few things...

Firstly, although we have a few, we're still looking for some more modified cars for the 'Modified Car Paddock', although we have some, there's still room for some more, all cars chosen for the paddock will receive a complimentary ticket to the show and all will still be eligible for the Meguiars Show&Shine classes. WalesMotorShow http://www.wpce.org/forum/html/emoticons/Wales.gif Layout -

Please be aware there is a 10ft fenced gap from the grandstand to the racetrack that runs between the Live Action Arena and the Car Club Arena, also the Car Club Arena stretches over half a mile to the right (where St Arvans Gate is) but is not shown in the layout below.

This first image was taken from the grandstand, gives one a slightly better perspective of the Car Club Arena, the second image shows the traffic management which will be in place on the show day, and the Car Club cars entry point through St Arvans Gate.

Hi Tobes,

I've been trying to talk my father in law into supporting this as he has a 1964 mini cooper S which is as per monte carlo spec. It was off the line straight after the mini's that gained 1st, 2nd and 3rd over a period of 3 years back in them days.

Is this something you would want in the modified car section or would this be better placed in the rally section. (Or indeed is it not welcome at such a show!!!) Recently it spent the WRC week in the window of Howells in Cardiff.

It looks better than this!!!

vvteye... quality car mate, have spoken with the powers that be this morning and all agree that we should have that car on the 'SuperCar Lawn', not all 'SuperCars' are Ferrari's mate...
If your father-in law is agreeable with that, we'll send him a free ticket for the show and the car will be with the Zonda and Ferrari's.... :)

Hi Mate,

I don't thiink the club are going to bother with only 3 interested plus LeeT but there are other clubs registered with a smaller presence so who knows.

I have just filled in the forms for tickets (£6 option is pre-filled in)so wondered if you did this or did you order them online?

I'm also looking forward to it... If Martin (MKIVSuprastore) keeps everything going smoothly I'll have my car back. Perfect timing. :d

I only posted my form today.. the link is on one of Tobes mails. It gets you in the car paddock with car pass... (must be there by 0930 though).
I think there is a car park cost for Gareth now he's chosen to go 'single'.

The cost then for the driver is £6 instead of £12 or £14 on the day, then it's the same for passengers or £8 for kids. I think under 9's get in free.

Christ feel like I could get a job at the entrance gate now!

Alternatively you can get your tickets odff the website link but thats £12 plus admin charge so just as well buy at gate.

Gareth, you are a scream.... sell out of tickets indeed!!! Have you seen how big Chepstow Race course is!!! If they do sell out of tickets all Mark has to do is walk about 4 miles around to the back and nip over the fence!;)

Editted... Markie...No extra stuff but with a motor like yours you should seriously be aiming to put it in the modified paddock... then the entrance is free and you can go for show and shine etc... You will need to follow what LeeT did to sort it out though.

To all those who are camping over on the Friday night...

Due to various (H&S) issues, we are now being instructed that you have to put your cars in the Car Club Area and then camp on the grass at the rear of the jockey accommodation next to No 5 (Sextons Of Swansea) Sound Off on the Layout below...
This is so you will be close to the portable lavatories, running water and will be able to use the showering and washing facilities in the jockey accomodation in the morning.

The green passes give you entry to the Car Club Area, the layout in my post on previous page shows the area, the green numbers are car clubs, but is not representitive of actual space per club...

Am currently trying to get a Car Club layout done which i'll post asap.

The Car Club area is predominantly tarmac.

Tobes
23-08-06, 20:39
To all...

Have had a 'Car Club' layout done, please bear in mind this is not to scale nor is it set in stone but more a rough guide to position, as there is no restriction on space I know some clubs are bringing gazebo's etc so will possibly need more space on the day, others may need less, that being the case we'll just move clubs up or down, so M4 Mini's may well need space on both sides of St Arvans Gate, or may need less space and hence SW-CC may come to the left of St Arvans Gate, am trying to remain as flexible as possible so everyone gets as much space as they want....

Show Layout -
http://img65.imageshack.us/img65/7019/wmsa3maplayoutwl4.th.jpg (http://img65.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wmsa3maplayoutwl4.jpg)

Car Club Layout -
http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/9516/carclubshg0.th.jpg (http://img220.imageshack.us/my.php?image=carclubshg0.jpg)

Please everyone be aware that you absolutely must be in the Car Club area by 09:30.
St Arvans Gate will be opened at 07:00 and will be shut at 09:30 as instructed by the Traffic Police, we have no control over that, so please don't aim to get there for 09:30 as the gate WILL be shut...

Finally, it's most important that everyone has a good day, with that in mind please be aware that there will be a considerable police presence in and around Chepstow, they are aware that over 500 Car Club cars will be descending on Chepstow on Fri evening / Sat morning and will be convoys of 50+ cars, so will no doubt be looking out for anyone speeding or behaving irresponsibly, please don't give them a reason to stop you...

See you all on Sat.

Toby.

Hi Guys, just back from Holidays and sadly, the Supe isn't ready for me to pick up today as arranged. :(

I have arranged to meet Gareth (CARDIFFSUPRA) in the public carpark around 0845 to give him his green club car pass, and on the wales motor show web site I noticed there is a space reserved for the MKIV Supra club.

So I will park the ASTRA in the public area and wander over to meet up with you guys.

This means I won't be joining the convoy in Newport as planned and will probably be wandering around sulking most of the time!!!

See you tomorrow...

Yeah it was a little chavy, Did you see the other supra that was parked with us?(white, black wheels) Any idear whos it was?

Yeah the Supra with the rivets belongs to The_host on here. I did'nt like the fiberglass, Would have looked nice sprayed a nice colour.

We left about 3, Did the same as you looked at everthing twice, then had a pint then buggerd off home just as it started to piss down :D

Thanks to all the guys for their company and genuine sympathy about the car problem.

The supes in the piccies looked great save for some tosser parking a bloody big shopping trolley in the middle. :innocent:

Good news - the car's engine rebuild is finished and it is currently undertaking a 200 mile inital run-in before I have it back.

Martin (MKIVSTORE) reckons it is sounding reaeaealy sweet:cool:

Hope to have it back on Thursday...

So apologies again for being a tosser with the parking... See you very soon.

September meet perhaps?

Ahh that'll be the Newport guys on the forum who came to the last meet in Cardiff bay then..... errr the one you couldn't get to..... ;)

We left just before you then.... like you say, very chavvy. I will also add
Very expensive,
Poorly organised, (church fete would do a better job)
and the choice of the presenter basically says it all. He would have appealed to those wannabees who were in the majority.

If the fuel girls had set themselves on fire it would have only been a tad more enjoyable.

But hey! Great company Gareth, Mike and Mr Traffic Light.

and as a result it was still a great day, methinks JAE next year though?

I was looking forward to seeing a Pagani Zonda, but I did not find it :( Really love them cars!!

Whats the 0-60 on that shopping trolley then fellar? :inno:

The front pic of the Sup's makes me even more want to change that front bumper of mine. I liked the one on that white supra you mentioned. Only spoke to the guy briefly, seemed a good fellar.

'bout 3 days, 4 hours if you really put your foot down! Thats what it feels like anyway. :(

I wouldn't worry about changing anything on your car. It looks absolutely mint and a different nose wouldn't change that.

Then again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder so I guess you will change it in the end. Have you ever considered a full frontal despoiling?

You'd surely be the first! ;)

TBH mate it's identical to being banned from driving coz you don't 'drive' the other cars, you just move them from place to place.

I'll give her a big kiss on her return... and who knows.... might just pop a dab of vaseline on the exhaust and take her up the wrong'un. :eyebrows:

Yeah... It'll be good to get my bitch back!
