Do 'looks' cause accidents?

Twice now since the old girls been facelifted i've had a rear shunt accident in a traffic jam happen right next to the window (scares the c**p out of me thinking it's mine).

I'm hoping some of you 2-car owners can reassure me that it's a common occurance these days and people these days just can't see what's 3 feet infront of them at 5-10mph?

It's just people, I think. I've nearly been rear ended 3 times this week on my way into Manchester. Scariest one was seeing an escort van in my rear view mirror doing about 50mph sideways, full on the brakes and the slide to a stop down the hard shoulder just to the side of me. And you're right Paul - being a biker makes it worse 'cos you can just see the stupidity unfolding around you,

I have always said people should have to pass their bike test before they are allowed to pass the car test. Then you would get better drivers on the road who have been taught to LOOK!

The worst feeling is when you stop and you hear the skreech of tyres coming from behind you, then looking into the mirror and seeing the look of sheer panic on the face of the cnut about to rear end you. Luckily enough the traffic in front of me moved enough to enable me to pull quickly to the side and the chopper hit the car I was behind.

I would have thought after half a mile of stop/start creeping along traffic they would realize the car infront would probably become stationary soon, lol.

Not sure about the bike idea though, I know i'll either lose my licence or kill meself on one :(
