Getting more miles out of a tankfull lately!

Up until about four weeks ago I was putting £50 in on a Monday and she'd reach the 1/4 full point on Friday evening which meant a top-up for the weekend.

Lately though I've been getting to Friday with just under half a tank full. I still boot it in the same places to and from work so how come it's not going down so quick?

Warmer weather?

Not complaining BTW just curious.

I've noticed my petrol lasting a little longer, last time I calculated my MPG I was getting 12 - and thats without booting it. I blame my FCON for that, it was obviously mapped to 'rape my wallet'.

Slightly off-topic - apparently the best time to fill up your car is when its cold outside (ie: early hours of the morning) as you get more fuel for your money!

A paragraph nicked from a report investigating amongst other things, the alledged practice of 'short supplying' to petrol retailers... illegal if done deliberately, it involves simply delivering warm fuel to the retailer, hence through expansion delivering less specific mass of fuel, although the same volume.

'...This particular issue is well known, and has been so for a number of years. The Trading Standards service regularly receives small numbers of complaints about ‘short measure’ fuel deliveries to filling stations, but these are sufficient to lead us to believe that there is a problem, although for reasons that I will come to, it is impossible to either quantify it, or to say how widespread the practice may be. Anecdotal evidence tends to suggest that the practice may be limited to a number of refineries....'

So the opposite is true also, but according to the blurb by a miniscule amount......so over four seasons, it balances out.
