Number plate conversion - tips needed

Hi all,

I need to change the number plate on my Jap supra from square to rectangle (for a private plate).

Has anyone done this before? And if so do you have any tips? There seems to be a big gap behind the rear plate which needs to be filled somehow e.t.c.

Thanks

Hi folks, first post hope its useful, cut a sheet of thinnish ally just slightly smaller than inset bumper panel, round off corners and deburr, prime and spray to body colour, drill two holes under where the new plate will go and use self tapping screws and possibly a couple of self adhesive pads to stop any rattling. screw uk plate into this. cheaper than new bumper and looks good.

Rain stopped, here is a pic, bit difficlt to see where the plate overlays the bumper on a black car but thats the point really, the measurement on the pic is the ally plate size and fits over the flat area of the bumper. radiusing the corners makes it fit nicely, make a dummy in cardbord first to make sure it covers the large hole top to bottom.
