oil advice

i'm booked into turbofit soon and was thinking of getting my oil done, both engine and transmission

what do you guys use?

Jon, have you spoken to Simon (oilman)?? He can tell you what you need for what you are running.

Assuming TT, for the engine Silkoline Pro S or Valvoline are used by many on here. 10w50 or 15w50 it the norm. Opie Oils are best for the silkoline, Envy (i think) for the valvoline.

What gearbox do you have?

I use Amsoil 10W/40 in the engine and Amsoil fully synth ATF in the auto box. The ATF is good for high temperature, high load abuse without turning brown & giving off that crappy burnt smell.

Good oil, V high spec. Works well.

If I was going to push the engine harder I'd consider going thicker to 15W/50 as others do, but I drive it like an old man (most of the time :eyebrows: ).

I use Amsoil too. Noticed an immediate difference when I changed. Also longer drain intervals (up to 3X as long)
UK agent for it is a race car builder who also races his own Le Man Jaguar.
When a man who has had 129 podium finishes and has won four championships tells me this is the best oil on the planet, I believe him.........:)

What is best for a race car is not necessarily best for a road car.
In fact, they are usually not.

For example, racecars do not spend nights outdoors collecting water in the sump (condensation) and they don't have to keep the same oil after 5Kmiles of start-stop traffic.
Hypothetical example: additives that oxidise themselves to boogery within a month would not be an issue on a race car, would they?
Race engines don't have to last 200K miles either.
