I'd like to retain the standard intake manifold when I put the twins on (I have a nice blingy one from Supradibbs to fit) - is this likely to cause me any problems?

I don't fancy the idea of moving the battery, PAS res etc and like the look of the standard one, it also fits my FMIC pipes so it's one less thing to worry about.

Can the standard one be 'enhanced' in any way to improve flow? I'll probably ditch the traction control stuff in favour of RLTC (when the price is right ;)) but is there much else that can be done

I'm not aiming for huge power, just more than I have now :)

Just subscribing as i am interested to know as well.
On a related note i remember some OEM manifolds being enlarged, possibly by dude but not sure.

To improve, UKs cn have the EGR stuff removed, and all can be enlarged by cutting and welding a higher top portion. These two things are often done at the same time. I know Sound Performance in the US do this, I think PHR do too. I am sure there are more.

But would be unecassary under 550-600hp. After that, the gains will be larger.

What sort of costings are we talking for modified stock intake compared to something like the veilside intake for example?

I was thinking more along the lines of making it bigger / better internally I suppose - the EGR stuff will be done as long as someone can sell me the bits (a thread I started trying to give traders money wasn't much of a success!)

I guess it depends how much you value the advantage of the OEM manifold as to if the price works for you.

I know Chipmunk has an enlarged intake manifold, because i polished it.:d
It might be worth asking him where he got his from possibly CJ ?
I think it is do-able for less than buying a brand new one thats for sure.
If you can find a good aluminium welder as cast can be a pain to weld.
Here is a pic of the enlarged intake:
