Is red really red?

Quite simple really.....is the UK red paint the same as the Jspec red paint?

Mine is a very dark red. Certainly a lot darker than the other red cars in the car park. The ones that really do go pink.

Same as mine then and that is what I am worried about with UK paint.....

mine is quite dark compared to others as you say but the previous owner bought a paint stick from Toyota which had to be ordered in from the looks of the invoice.

could get the part number if you like?

My UK Sup is a darker red than a 'normal' red colour.. it's also a lot darker than any pre-94 Toyota's I've seen, for instance I had a 1990 GT4 in red and that was your more normal bright red, Supra is darker than that and doesn't fade.

Mine is quite a dark shade of red, certainly not faded, although I have my suspicions that it had a respray in Japan.

I just had Chips Away do a chip and it didn't match

Interesting question - mine is most definitely not the same red as most red supes - in a line up of several reds mine is really bright compared to the others - and its stock colour - so, I would say the colours vary

I've just bought some 2 pack red paint, he had a colour card.

There were 2 reds.

I cannot get a perfect match.

my color code for the red is 3L2. the chap mixed it all up infront of me perfect match on the colour. build up the layers as needed and tcut it works like magic.

I got some from Halfords too, they didn't exactly inspire confidence with mixing.

They might have scales with the readout on the computer, but how on earth can they get the correct quantities if they pour the constituents in by hand!

The stuff I got was too light.

I've decided to go for the 2 pack paint instead, much more durable.

Whatever the shade always looks pink to me lol.

All red cars go pink if you don't polish them!

did they change the red a bit for the facelift model 96/97

To see if your colour is the same as another's compare the paint codes. From the supras we have seen, the paint code is 3L2.

And of course, it is down to the dude mixing the paint for you..
