Another bulb gone :(

Hi people,

Seems like this is a week for bulbs to die on me. Last night i noticed the gear stick area on my auto did not have any of the gears illuminated. Is this just a bulb under that plastic area or could it be a fuse?

time of the year I think... had a back one go a couple of weeks back, and then a front indicator went the other day.. weather warming up?

replaced it with the 'blue laser' ones... hmmm... but they look the bloody same!! bah!!

Yeah could be, i still need to replace a dipped headlight bulb, but seem to have confused myself with what i need to get for an import/facelift

The gearstick one went on me too. I was just about to replace it... and it came on again.

I doubt there is a fuse for just that one light so I think it's the bulb stonkin

While i'm here, (just been reading about 300 posts regarding headlight bulbs) I've been looking at http://www.powerbulbs.co.uk, who seem to be recommended on here. Going by this page http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/home.php?cat=257 i'm looking at the Philips Blue Vision and Philips Premium 30%

Which in peoples experience is the better bulb, how 'blue' does the blue bulb appear and is it a lot less bright than the premium?

The above place also sends free Philips blue vision sidelights with any order, how easy are these to change on a facelift that have them by the indicators in the front bumper?

I know there have been loads of threads on this (trust me, i've just read em!) just want some clarification

Just ordered the Philips Premium's, although this thread http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=59734&highlight=powerbulbs seems to state that the free sidelights i will get wont fit the facelift model, is this right?

Well i'm getting a bit lonely in this thread, but i'll continue anyway

My new bulbs turned up today, it looks as though the only bit that needs cutting is the bit inside the bulb connector as that has two prongs and the connector on the car has 1, so i obviously need to shave both of those off.

Will i also need to cut anything off the 3 plastic bits around the bulb?

Also, the free sidelights i got, philips blue vision W5W, wont fit my facelift sidelights will they? If thats the case, does anyone want them, can go in the post today.

Well i've just found this by searching, dont know what i searched on yesterday but i found nothing:

The PRND buttons by the gearstick light up. If they dont, its just 1 x1.4w capless bulp to change. Pull off the centre console trim around the gear lever and you can just see the two green wires going into the bulb holder. Its just a 1/4 turn to release it. Its a bit fiddly, but not too bad.

Somehow the leads for those lights, and the O/D OFF light had been connected to my sterio - WTF?!??! They're all back in place now, and I can see what I'm doing at night
