hi all
ive just fitted a 400w amp and 12" type r subwoofer
however when i run the damn thing all i seem to get from the sub is a lot of flaping kind of farting noise
when i fiddle with the gain and crossover i can get the farting to stop but then very little bass is produced
any help would be great

many thanks

have you got a pic of the setup?

is anything near or blocking the port(s)?

tbh mate its still a work in progress and not very good at that
does the sub have to be totaly seald from the outside of the box or can it run with a gap at the rear of the box?

seal it mate... if its got a gap you might as well not put it in a box atall :p

yea alpines run well sealed, unless thoe box u have is designed to go ported but u need to measure it up exactly to make a proper ported box and tune it to a specefic frequency or something, complicated stuff

also i presume ur amp is 400wattsrms right, not 400wattsmaxoutput, depending on the type r u have, if its new one, think they require 500wattsrms, so 400wattsrms is fine, and the older ones are 300wattsrms, so 400wattsrms is fine too as long as u keep the gains down

just a thought mate, apart from that, make sure its sealed, think they want less than 1cubicfeet sealed...
