Does anyone on here work with rare and/or out of print books? Do you know anyone who does?

I've been searching for a book for years and have hit dead-end after dead-end.

I'm after a book called Three Legged Race by Dan Omahony.

It may have been published by Bad Man Publishing and probably doesn't have an ISBN.

Omahony was/is the singer in a number of US (west coast) hardcore punk bands. No For An Answer, 411, Speak 7:14 etc.

He has a second book called Four Letter World.

I've been searching for this book for about seven or eight years, I am in touch with many 'book-finders' but to date the closest I've gotten is the possibilty that he was working in a music store in San Francisco. Couldn't really afford to go ringing all of them. The guy is likely to not have email either.

So, anyone? Any ex punks who might know him? Long shots, always long shots!

if serious my cousin is just winding down his business, as a bookseller! He's done it for years.

Can ask him if you want mate!

Tom,

Please do. I've honestly tried just about every avenue I can think of. Any lead is a possibility.

Cheers chap.

Has it got a treasure map in it or is it just really good? :D

The guy was kind of a hero of mine back in the day. Got pretty much every record by every band he was in. Don't have this book though. TBH, it's a very thin book, it's not going to be so great that the years of looking will be worthwhile but I want to find a copy.

Hey Martin, are you familiar with a band called Red Lorry, Yellow Lorry?

Not really. I've definitely heard some of their music but I've not owned anything by them.

May I ask why?

May I ask why?

I work with their old lead singer, he's one of the manager chaps at work - quite amusing to compare the on stage and the 'in office' versions :)

Wow, that's must be really odd. Imagine if you'd been a fan and were humming one of their songs the first time you met him.

My partner spends a lot of time on the net and signed up to one of those sites where you list a bunch of things you want to do and people try and help you out.

One of her aims was to get me a copy of this book.

Some months went by and then, back in October, out of the blue, a woman in Seattle, USA claiming to know the author replies saying that she has a copy and will send it to us.

So we send her our adress and then nothing.

Until today that is until today. A little box with a book in it. Mint condition too and she gets a thank you from the author on the last page too.

I was floored. We'd given up hope, believing her to be one of those internet weirdos who do things like this for the attention.

My seven-eight year search is over. I'm off to read it. Bye!!

She wouldn't take any payment either. Just doing it out of pure kindness. My 'faith in humanity' bar is topping up.

I've always liked anyone that isn't close-minded, can step back and laugh at themselves and has a dose of humility. A great many Americans have that, a great many don't.

That's a nice story. What site did she use to get it? I always need obscure records and info on musicians etc from the US

It's called 43things but it's not really for finding purchases. It's more along the lines of I want to go back to school, I want to travel, I want to learn to skydive.... That sort of thing.
