Wastegate chatter on an Auto

The external wastegate works the same way on auto and manual cars - it's atmospheric dump valves that only really sound when lifting off in an auto car, though some auto owners say they can hear the dump valve going between gears.

:D

Does the external wastegate on auto's sound from the outside while driving, or only when backing off the throttle??

Mikey

what do you mean mate, i have an external wastegate vented to atmosphere on a auto, when letting off from high revs it sounds awesome in combination with the dump valve and at high revs/speed it howls :D :D

A mates single turbo manual car used to chatter on gear changes.....he had a wastegate venting to atmosphere, just wondering if it would be a similar scenario with the auto as your not lifting of the throttle in an auto??

Or am I totally confused here?

Mike :p

i never hear anything on full throttle gear changes i think thats the way the ecu controls the shifts, all the noise (chatter) is is on lift off
