Perhaps it could be broken down into sections - the absolute basics that will let you run a single safely, and then the extra parts that aren't essential, but wouldn't go amiss or would be needed if you want more power? Would also be good to know things like what size injectors support what sort of power - I have a very good formually somewhere for working this out actually.

The trouble with this sort of thing is that one person's idea of "essential" is another person's "frivolous and unneccesary"...

About the only thing people can't argue about is:

1* Big Fat Turbo

Everything after that is up for debate :)

So it's essential to have all those Miami GT products then, a single turbo conversion simply won't work without them  Well I can understand that, any other brand pillar pod and the car wouldn't even start.

MIAMI GT SPEC LIST

:(

I don't know where to begin...

Seb, the best thig to do is decide your budget....everything else will depend on that.

If your starting with a bone stock car and want to upgrade the whole thing (properly) then you need £5k absolute min IMO.

Once you have a budget to allow for all the main components, budget another 1k to allow for incurred costs.

OK OK hissy fits aside (Sorry Paul you know how I get when people try and sell stuff as an answer to a tech question :D ) I've started a tech thread here for people to contribute what they think makes up a minimum spec good single turbo setup. I've populated the template with my personal thoughts on it as an example of how I see it being used.

This might work, it might not, worth a try :D

Arnouts single turbo manifold

Turbo of choice

Tial 42mm wastegate

Adaptor for wastegate to manifold

Pipe with flexi section from wastegate to downpipe

Downpipe

Intercooler pipes from turbo to I/C

Turbo oil feed and drain pipes and fittings and gaskets

Turbo thermal blanket

Thermal wrap for downpipe

Wastegate and manifold heat shields

Thermal wrap for vulnerable wiring, hoses and conduit

Air filter assembly and piping and bracketry

Assuming early manual J-Spec (I wouldn't contemplate a single on an auto or Tiptronic, period...)

Power FC

Apexi boost controller and FC harness

Uprated fuel pump

Injectors to suit desired end power

Colder plugs

Wide band O2 sensor and readout

LOTS of mapping, expect to spend at least a grand if done by an expert including cold start and reasonable light throttle running.

Niceities, but by no means essential:

Engine oil cooler

EGT gauge

Water injection

My SMIC

Custom cold air box feed for air filter

Not required unless going for mega power (over 500)

"Uprated" FPR

"Uprated" fuel rail - Probably not needed at any power level seen in the UK

"Uprated" head gasket

Any sort of trick oil additives

Lots of gauges horribly wired up and about to fall from some iffily mounted screen pillar that soes a very effective job of blinkering one side of your vision

Bizarre dashboard colour schemes

Bizarre "body kits", "spoilers", "wings" and wheels that weigh a ton, don't fit and scream tastelessness, shod with this weeks special offer Korean tyres.

Advertising decals unless you are getting good sponsorship money to display them, and the car is a track only car...

DO NOT CONTEMPLATE a single kit if the engine you have is near knackered, and really needs a rebuild, or if funds are so tight any sudden unexpected problem costing a few hundred quid to a grand extra will faze you

All IMHO :)

Hey those are essential I tell you. +20bhp at least ;)

Anyway, you say "not required unless going for mega power" and under that you put the bizarre body kits - either you think they are required over 500bhp or you slipped into rant mode :innocent:
