Turbo 'stutter'

Getting this on the 2nd turbo, but not all the time.

Sometimes it works fine, sometimes it cuts out and starts boosting again, then off, then on, etc. until all of a sudden it starts behaving as normal (a bit like a 'stutter')

And sometimes it doesn't come on at all (rarely though).

There's no smoke when it happens, just a big loss in performance. I'm not getting any engine light show up neither.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

I did think maybe a sticking actuator, but would that take it back off boost and then on again like that?

Didn't think of that one. Hopefully I'll get round to replacing the turbos soon and can check the tank for vacuum / leaks.

Has anyone got a vacuum gauge and pump they can lend me? :D
