Hi again.. the usual new owner bombarding the group with questions to end the personal worrying....

The situation... New SUpra, last serviced in 1999, done 6000 miles since in 6 years.

full service history before hand.

Do I get it serviced at a lexus/toyota garage for i am guessing 600 quid(last time i had a supra) or i have a very good local garage or do i take it to a specialist garage( a garage for fast cars!!! wooo).

What would you chaps do? It obviously needs all fluids changing and all belts, are there things that a toyota garage or specialist do that a normal but top bloke mate mechanic cant do. for half the price and i still get a stamp in my service book.

Thanks Jonnie

For the basic fluids stuff any garage you trust should be ok to do the work but i doubt that they will use the correct fluids, maybe you could supply them for them? As for the belts, well there are only two and one is very straight forward to fit/renew. The cambelt is slightly more involved, but nothing for a competent mechanic, except that 'heat' must not be involved in removing the crank bolt/pulley (which some mechanics may/may not know about).

i know a really good place he is an MR2 specialist but looks after my soop and a couple of others he was recommended on here, he is at jct 37 off the M1 and how does appx £120 cost for oil change and oil filter change and full service? he dont charge a lot as he is not struggling for work

We might be a bit far away for you based in North Wales.

But would agree with the guys who say take it to a specialist instead of Toyota, you'll pay a lot less and get a better job done :)

T. xx

I have a friend who lives just above Bethesda so North wales is not out of the running.. my only concern is running it on the oil in it for 100 + miles... guess i could do a quick drain and refill. Right too early to think I shall have a look where you are this evening.

Thanks Jonnie

Any recomended places around the derby, notts stoke area? I am from basically Alton Towers (about 2 miles away)

Agree with the others general fluid change then trusted local garage, anything mechanical pay Chris Wilson a visit, it will be well worth the drive, he is based very close to Chester. See contact details HERE
