Opinions on my Wideband plot

Guys,

I bought an AEM UEGO controller a while back, and got it wired in a couple of weeks ago, however it seems to vary quite a lot during operation.

Now from what I can tell one of their big selling points is that "Does not oscillate AFR like narrow band sensors". This doesn't seem to be the case with mine, the leds are flicking back and forth like Knight Rider.

I have connected the serial output to my laptop and logged the data over a typical journey from work. Now I would appreciate if someone knowledgable could comment on whether this is what I should be seeing, or if not any suggestions as to what may be the cause (and how to remedy it).

Looks pretty normal to me, i have Innovate, but there appears to be no time scale on your plot??

I couldn't get a timescale on the plot, just the raw data plotted as it came out. I have no idea what rate the Gauge puts the data out to the serial line, so couldn't determine a scale for the x-axis.

But there were a lot of data points, :D I think there is about 15minutes worth on that plot.

Looks pretty much as i would expect, lots of data points around 14-15 AFR as the ECU tries to keep fuelling at stoic, and the odd 11 when you go onto full boost, the Lean spikes are when the throttle is closed + no fuel.

It was more the oscillation around stoichiometry that I was wondering about, does the constant hunting about 14.7 seem correct then. I thought that it seemed a little excessive given the claims by AEM. but then I've never seen a Narrowband sensor output :shrug:

Yeah its a lot to do with the way the std ECU looks at the voltage that comes from the narrowband sensor, as soon as its outside a set voltage (can't remember what the limits are) the ECU will just + or - a set injector duty , so its rare that it stays dead stable when your driving on closed loop.

Ah that makes a lot of sense, I forgot that the ECU input was from a narrowband sensor. So if the AFR is oscillating itself, it doesn't matter how accurate the AFR gauge is does it.

I wonder is it possible to replace the Narrowband sensor feeding the ECU, with a Wideband spoofing a Narrowband signal. I'll do anything to get a smooth AFR output :D Aftermarket ECU anyone :D

Sorry but you will just get the same result! the only way you will get what you want is to fit a decent ECU like the AEM and get the map spot on!
