Hi flow cats

Personally, unless you are a person who spends their weekends hugging trees on a half-finished bypass, I wouldn't bother about cats at all.  :)

 

The reason being that it's just so darned easy in the UK to be without. In the US the regs are much more strict.

 

For example, I don't know whether this is in all states, but they have "visual checks" as part of their vehicle testing process. Which means if the cat is missing then the car will fail - regardless of the actual emisions the engine is producing.

 

I presume the very fact the regs *are* much stricter, has created the market for what are commonly called high-flow cats. In other words, if you *have* to have a cat then better make it a high-flow one. But if the fact you haven't got a cat is universally ignored, then junk it... that's what I say.
