Optimax check..

Can we have a quick comparison of prices, they seem to have shot up again around here. I paid 99.9p a litre today.

I paid 95.9p for optimax in Luton a few days ago!

Try Tesco 99 if there is one near you, a bit cheaper

102.3 in slough today for BP ultimate

99.9p for Optimax here in Essex too - has been for months now.

Tesco is in Stevenage but its a little out the way for me. BP, thats usually more expensive, I seem to remember that to be near a £ a litre when i last filled up with it over a month ago, last optimax was only around 96p tho!

Aint there a Tesco nearer to you? I think nearly all Tesco's in the south do 99 ron now

One in Stevenage, Bedford, hmm there might be one in Baldock, deffo stock 99 if they all sell it now, I'll check it out

yeah im going to look for some too on my travels i think there is a tesco with fual station in lichfield i usualy avoide super market fual stations like the plague but it seems this tesco 99 is prefered

If Tescos 99 is quality controlled to the same standard as the new digital tyre inflator I used a couple of weeks ago in their Bristol S/Market then I would worry big time.

A week after doing my tyres i checked them with my digital gauges at home and they were reading 5 lb over pressure, so must have been 7-8 lb over pressure on the day.

Oil almost back to an all-time high, 4p a litre on most fuel near me in the last few days, the market is believing that idiot Bush is going to do Iran !

I didn't know that people actually TRUST the readings of gauges in forecourts. Any monkey can drop it or run it over with their car, it's a public convenience isn't it?

I'd only use them for providing pressurised air --- always verify with your own quality gauge.

Good idea to have one in the car, and don't go for a cheap one either. You'll have consistent readings at least.

3 consecutive days 3 new prices 96.9 - 97 .9 - 98.9 and no doubt when i go back we will be at 99.9

You'd have a job running over this one John, it's a friggin' great metal box stuck on the pavement!.....

As for the " its a public convenience".. No its not, its a service they are supposedly providing you with, and as such should be to a certain standard..

Not to calibrate their gauges properly show a lack of concern for their customers...

And sometimes you don't get time to check with your own gauge as there is someone waiting and then you forget by the time you get home......

They usually have signs saying that the gauges are not calibrated - I've seen some off by 10psi!!!

They could be all over the place. Would you *really* ever trust the readings from a gauge of unknown origin, knowing what a difference it can make in handling if a tyre is off by just a few psi?

I always check with my own gauge. Forecourts are nonsense and in terrible repair usually.

I usually opt for the cheaper Tesco 99, but that's gone up too in London to between 97-98 pence. Gits.

Filled up with Optimax last night, was 98.9p. I have access to Tesco 99, but no idea what the price for this is.

Any idea on why petrol prices have suddenly shot up ?
