ellis
So anybody about on the A50 etc, on the way down, give us a wave! Never usually see a single bloody Supra when I'm driving round so would make a nice change!

RobSheffield
Did have a bit of run with a GT4 on the way back though! why do they do that? it seems to be only GTfours that will try it on, and i have always easily dissapeared them
Chris Wilson
You got home quickly! *issing down here, you obviously didn't drag the rain back with you Thanks for the work, your old I/C must just about take the "Worst Stock I/C" award, quite *uggered, you had your moneys worth out of that one! ellis
It was a good run back! Left the rain over your house in the end! I should have had a look at the I/C - would have been interested to see just how sh*gged it was!

His exhaust smelled a bit oily - wonder what mine smelled like when I left him behind!!

ellis
It must make some difference - my wallet was a load lighter on the way back!!! If it does, I'm not technically minded enough to notice but the car has a mint CW bit of kit that makes me sleep easier (and I'm sure makes the car a lot happier too judging by the state the old one was in!) and will be spot on for the Dragonball Run! Burna
I'm hoping I'll notice the difference when the weather gets warmer, at least I know my CW SMIC will be working unlike my shagged old one.
Wez
I use a CW SMIC on my single and its been good as gold so far
RedM
I use a CW SMIC on my single and its been good as gold so far That's pretty interesting. What kind of power you putting out? It's almost sacrilege to get above BPU without having an FMIC if most people are to be believed.
Wez
I have no idea but it goes alright, still only running 1bar, i am doing loads more work on it next week which will enable me to up the boost. EDIT: there are loads running SMICs with singles in the US, check out the road racing section on supraforums, as the turbos are running in there effeciency range they require less cooling in the first place. Angarak
The link below is an interesting article on the SMIC and the design of the stock bumper. It also covers CW SMIC a bit: http://www.max-boost.co.uk/max-boost/intake/intercooler_2JZGTE.htm Its put me off getting a FMIC as I dont intend to go beyond BPU. super_supra
fitted my CW SMIC the other weekend feels stronger from 3000rpm onwords but my old cooler was f*@ked all the core was falling to bits if i touched it.
Chris Wilson
Update . . . . . CAN notice the difference!!! Lots perkier!! The difference would be even more apparent in hotter weather. I am glad you feel it's a worthwhile change
imi
I wonder whether its worthwhile investing in an uprated SMIC rather than replacing it with a stock SMIC.... for a BPU car that is.
RedM
The CW is uprated, is it not? Certainly has more rows or something and it's alumnium where the stock isn't. Why are you asking?
imi
Yup...question is...for a BPU car....is a BRAND NEW stock SMIC replacement sufficient OR is an UPRATED CW SMIC required. I'm thinking that perhaps the Miami-GT stock replacement ones should be sufficient for BPU cars....(assuming that the stock IC can handle BPU)
RedM
I think the stock IC can handle BPU but it can't hurt to go for something that could cope better. I've got a CW smic coming in the next few days. Took me a while to decide which route to take. I could have had stock for about the same price but decided against it. I thought about an FMIC but didn't fancy the lack of ducting, the blocking of the rad etc. I don't see that I'll ever go single. I just don't earn enough to do get a proper job done. So, I decided that an uprated smic would be fine for BPU. When I eventually go BPU.
Scooter
i think CW's is a quality bit of kit but i don't know for sure if it can claim to be better than the stock IC, but it certainly is cheaper, well made etc. BTW i think all IC's are aluminium, aren't they? Scooter
I could have had stock for about the same price but decided against it. just out of interest where could you get one, Nic or Steve Manley maybe?
RedM
I cut n' pasted this from the excellent Max Boost site. 'This one is known as the 'Chris Wilson' SMIC. The tanks are made of aluminium like the stock ones should have been. Direct replacement, utilising the excellent stock location. The core of this CW SMIC doesn't look too bad either. If anything the core inside appears to be less dense, something that would make it better suited to higher-than-stock operation, where the stock one starts to lose efficiency (dense turbulators create lots of pressure drop at high boost) The extra weight would come handy with heatsoak.' RedM
just out of interest where could you get one, Nic or Steve Manley maybe? I rang Mr. Manley. He got close-ish to the cost of a CW IC but not close enough. The lower cost and positive comments about it convinced me to go with CW.
