Well if you stick with the stock box then i'd look into the T61 with 650injectors and an Emange. Burt has just installed a 61 on his auto which had over 500bhp. B'have also has one i belive. I'm sure if you stick "auto t61" in the search you'll find loads of great info :D

There's lots of info on this around, the search button will help find most of it plus also check out the technical faq's.

From what I've read the stock auto is good for up to 500bhp (I also believe this is crank and not rwhp.

Also is it a UK or J-Spec you've got.

thankyou mate much apreicated i have just read a few post and it seems like the t61 is quite a good turbo for the power i am looking for as i still want to drive it on the road and i think around 500-600bhp will be about the max for road use as i dont want it to turn out like my pulsar with 500+bhp which is not realy much use for everyday use

thanks guys the tunning wont be starting for a while yet just doing my research before spending my money
i hope to get to a few meets at some point and talk to a few owners running good power and possibly go for a quick ride with them just so i can make sure i dont by something that is to powrerfull or not powrerfull enough

If you can find a good UK spec you won't need to upgrade the brakes, but the other differences (except maybe the fuel pump - do people keep the stock pump with T61s?) are pretty irrelevant if you're going single, as you'd be changing it all whether it's UK or jap anyway.

Yeah, if you're going for 600bhp or over then it doesn't matter much if it's JSpec or not.
Just get one with the big brakes to save the hassle of swapping an extra thing.

If you're going for 400-500 then the waters are pretty murky --- it would then depend on price/age/condition of each car.
A good UK example can see a bit over 500bhp without swapping too many bits (if done properly, and even then it's a stretch)

500-600 is a different call, each car has to be judged on it's merits then.
The UKSpec will need less hanky-panky with the ECU to work reasonably well with a small single (that you'll probably need for such power)

Can you try and use some punctuation as well please, Paul? It's quite frustrating trying to work out where the breaks in your paragraphs should be!

It will be unless you spend a fair amount on it

thanks guys the tunning wont be starting for a while yet just doing my research before spending my money

Unless you're into serious track day usage, the standard UK brakes are more that adequate (These bigger brakes were optional on the early jspec cars).

With £10-15k to spend you will have plenty to build a full spec engine including a standalone ECU.

I recommend you keep a grand or two aside for suspension work. These cars are getting on now so unless its been recently done, you should budget to replace some bits (Bushes, dampers, roll bar links, track rods ends, etc) and then a full allignment. No point in spending £15k on an engine and have dodgy handling!
