This has got me worried & very stumped!!, although its probably not that hard.
ok, just got my car back running as she should be. everything looked perfect and was planning on going for a RR run as summers coming up and want to try and make some RWYB drags this year.
anyway problem happened when driving to a friends house up the M3, poodling along nicely, Speed limit + 20, and then suddenly lose power, not a total loss but she feels 'groggy' on the uptake. get that cold feeling and start to pull across to the inside. no dash indicators showing anything out of the ordinary. get into the middle lane and change down, however whilst changing down, and i was changing slowly, the engine just cut out!! so lobbed her into 4th and bumped her, thought that was an anamoly so tried again and got the same problem. wasnt far from my friends house so thought i'd get there rather than get stuck on the motorway.
got there, maybe 15mins later probably 10 miles and the cars running perfectly again, no idle problems nothing, sounds good. double check under the hood or the usual, no pipes off, no air leaking from anywhere, no liquids missing.
thought it was just some inconsistency in the fuel or tank.
since then its happened twice more, no rhyme or reason its not after ive been thrashing it or driving hard. the last time was this weekend driving down to portsmouth on the A3 going up that hill around the Punchbowl at about 40.
Now i'm sure somethings up but just cant find it. when it happened this time i thought i'd try and find out whats affected and this is what i can come up with;
turbos sound as if they're struggling against something,
sounds like some Detting at the higher revs,
no idle what so ever, just dies when im not on the power,
very sugglish on the start of acceleration, although does seem to calm at mid range,
if i keep my foot at the same pressure on the peddle she feels like shes flooding, sluggish sluggish fine fine sluggish etc etc practically bouncing down the road.
but once again when i finish my trip 30 odd miles down the road, with no undue turbo action, back to normal, not a single flutter or glug, the rev counter looks as if its stapled to 600RPM.
this is really strange, ive just changed my fuel and oil filter. and i'm wondering whether its the quality of tesco's fuel.
cheers
