Firstly hello,

Secondly I am in need of help.

I currently have a 95' Japanese import supra, with alot of hp, (the white one that broke at USC and spat its diff mounting and everything inbetween out.

Well, 8months later the car is finally fixed (a long story) but I am stuck on which oil to use in the ATS diff, I want to go castrol, but ive read that there is issues with different oils,

Please can somebody help me? the diff is back in the car, and i want to pick it up:) (with the right oil naturally)

Thankyou

Welcome, use the search to see what oils are recommended. Depends on how much power you are running and if you need different oils, I'm sure someone in the know will give better guidance.

well, thanks guys, ashbhp, did you use to own a pulsar gti-r?

If so I had the black one with 355hp, we all went to pod, years ago,

we also met at POD one day, but my supra decided to run as a 4 cylinder, still a 14.3@110mph wasnt bad...lol (brand new plugs as well) remember the topsecret white one??

Sadly its not 1100hp, it was what I wanted from the car, just didn't expect a so called robbing "^*&ard of a tuner to take 8months and £1300 to fix the thing!!.

I wanted a veilside inlet manifold with throttle, and 12 injector set up, my target was 1100hp at fly,

Still, the spec should achieve 900hp,

Semi Stripped:

HKS t51r spl 2.2bar

HKS F-CON PRO

290deg IN/EX cams

OS Gilken 4plate clutch

HKS Special "drag suspension"

and alot of other fun stuff!!!!

nice one mate, do you still have the pulsars and a supra?

Although I love my supra, i've had 2 r32 gtr's now (one 700hp one) I still miss my Gti-R, think its because not mand people knew what it was, and I liked the old goose and K&N sound.:)

Well Supra should be picked up today, I need to refit the fuel tank, put a new battery in, and start her up.

Might do a vid of it, its been so bloody long I can't remember what it sounds like.........Titanium exhaut, 106 octane, bangs like porno start:D

Is yours the ATS metal or carbon LSD??

I installed the metal type on mine a few weeks ago....the manufacturers oil alternatives were'nt available in this country.....I tried Silkolene Boa90 LS and was noisy as hell,a shot of friction modifier quietened down the 'chattering' a bit..its still noisy though especially slow parking type manouvres.

but I was told by a 'race 'gearbox/diff guy that its been set very tight.

I'll probably try the Motul LS oil next see if it prefers that.....

good luck

It appears you best to use ATS oil

LSD

Q: Can I use other brand of LSD oil for ATS LSD?

A: There are many excellent LSD oils in the market. Some of them are fine with our LSD but others are not simply suitable. ATS uses only ATS LSD oil for the performance test of our LSD. The relationship between a LSD and LSD oil is like that of a human and his/her blood type. The performance of LSD is significantly influenced by a choice of LSD oil. Some oils may cause unpredictable LSD behavior. With unknown LSD oil used, it is difficult to find out the real cause when a malfunction happens - is the cause oil or LSD itself? At least for the break-in and first race, use our LSD oil then after that you can experiment with other LSD oils. If you do not experience much difference and the lap time does not suffer, that oil is probably all right. Currently for endurance race, we acknowledge that OMEGA and Oberon LSD oil exceed our LSD oil standard and perfectly fit our LSD. For carbon LSD only, you could use NEO synthetic gear oil 75W-140 (readily available in the U.S).

HI Dave, well, I have gone for castrol diff oil, 75-90,

will see how noisy it is.

But car isnt back until tomorrow maybe, I rang today, but they have only just got the machined prop (2:15) Tomorrow looks more likley for delivery.

Then I'm going to fit the fuel tank back in, retrace the wires for the battery to make sure I put the new battery in the right way (now locatedin boot with no + or -) then fit the front bumper..........then crank her up :D

I've had a painful 8 months getting it done, but now I've been assured I cannot brake the diff hub, propshaft. I wonder if anyone else on here has a drag diff mounted to a uprated prop?

I know CRD could use one.

I will take pictures tomorrow.

Out of interest which cams have you got in there?

On the diff side of things, you still they first one I've seen blow one up in such spectacular fashion in the UK! ;)

We still run a stock diff, but with a carbon prop.

Gaz.

Hi Gaz, Ive got 290IN/EX not sure on the lift,

LOL so you were there, well, the diff didn't actually brake, the weak part of the diff is the stock Toyota diff plate, which I cracked/smashed/tore off, the Diff was fine, the other weak part of the transmission, is the rubber mounting where diff meets prop, it was like it was made from wax.

Allthough it did raise a few eyebrows to how much torque the car has,

I can't wait to show you the photos of the new diff/mounting, its a very strong piece of engineering, and as I've said before, it isnt going to happen again, although when I get the car back, I am going to sell it. As I have a new project I want to fund :D

Stock Diff? well if it ain't broken, don't fix it, what power do you have (torque more importantly)?

I saw your diff pop at the pod as well. Made a little mess didnt it?! 8 months to fix is a bit harsh though. Hope all goes well fella.

hi mate, yep I put on a show didn't I...lol all I remember thinking was "what the %$^ was that", I tried to put the handbrake on...Nothing!!! I got out and every one was clapping......I accidently waived back, when I wanted to give the finger for all their support..lol, then the sound of the marshall, come on lets get it moved, I then moved a foot for the first time and I didn't have my shoe laces done up, yep you got it, pod is so bloody sticky my shoes came off...(for all the reddwarf fans, think rimmer and gaspatcho soup) yep it was a bad day.

The I gave a so called tuner who has since stopped/been stopped trading, lots of money, so he could fix the car in under 1 month so I could have it done for JapShop in October. Found out in March he hadn't givern my money to the engineer, who didn't start the work, the so called tuner used my money to finance other customers work, and couldn't pay for mine. After I found this out, I went direct to engineer, and his work is amazing.

Although I still have a bitter taste in my mouth, as you can expect, so im not as excited as I have been in the past when I have veen waiting for a car to Upgraded/modified.
