Would any of you like to attend the following event. It is open to all of you except Christian Doran as he beat me last time, only kidding m8. I am organising this event this year as a warm up to the TOTB. The day will consist of 1/4 miles and V-max at the end of a 2.1 mile runway. It is taking place at RAF Woodbridge on Sunday the 16th of March and costs £30 to run and £10 to spectate. The cost includes insurance, ambulance, timing gear, land lease toilets etc and there will also be food provided (burger, sausages, bacon etc). The timing gear is as used in F1 Tag Heuer accurate to 3DP. For more info contact myself or see www.sxoc.com or phone my mobile 07966396059. This event has previously had Magazine coverage (Banzai June/July 2002). If you are up for a caning from some Datsuns please come along. Norris's 715bhp evo 7 is making an appearance.
Please send cheques made payable to:-

copied to events section as well.

I believe Woodbridge is pretty local to all you Easterners so get along there.

Terry, this might be a good shakedown for yours and Leons cars if you need some trial runs.

I'd like to have a go at this! - Surely on this event I can just keep my foot to the floor... 'self control optional':conf:

Terry S
19-02-03, 09:46
Might be fun even if just to do some WOT mapping. Supposed to be going to a Christening that day, I'll try & make my excuses.

Not sure about Leon, he may be doing other things.

The last one in November was quite good, so I will be attending this one as well.....:D :D

Who's going to this?

Alex
23-02-03, 20:53
I'll probably go, again, if I still have the car.

Gordon F
23-02-03, 21:13
Yep - Sounds good :p

I've just booked :) It's my first time taking the Supra off the queens highway GULP, has to be done :D :D

Matt Harwood
24-02-03, 21:50
Do they race in singles or pairs at this event?

Richie
24-02-03, 21:51
Singles as you carry on up to 1.8 mile speed trap

Supra Pilot
24-02-03, 22:42
Guys we can make this a mini meet if you like, it's a nice big place to see some good machines.

If this one is half as good as the last(in Nov), then it will be blast!

Richie I must tell you again m8, that was a good set up and well organized event you pulled off there.
I hope you are running your car to it's potential this time and no holding back.....

Also are you restricting the number of cars running again, as I think you should. The amount running last session was pretty good, with possibly even a few more.
Anyway I will e mail you with my £££££££ soon...:flame Dev

Hey Richie, after 1.8 miles at WOT then 0.3 of a mile doesn't seem very long to stop, or am I just being a wusser here (even though I've got UK brakes).

Wasn't the last one 1.25 miles and stockish Supras were getting to about the 150MPH mark? Perhaps be getting 160-165 at 1.8 miles?

Richie
25-02-03, 06:49
Steve you should be fine in the braking department there are bikes that have been upto 227mph on this runway and you know how sh1te bike brakes are. Supra pilot the car was only producing 408bhp last time due to an ineffieceint head but as we speak it has the engine out with a new race spec head going on. This along with the nos anti lag system I'm fitting should see it up to around 650bhp

Supra Pilot
25-02-03, 09:14
Richie,
You 'bastard!'.....:twak:
M8 you better have that machine ready and running by then, it is by far probably the best example about, looking and now taking her to 600+..
I have got to see her run m8....

I am saying this as I had quite a couple of those cars myself(still got one) .......love them, always said they had a lot of potential......
see ya soon.....

Richie

 Dam.......

Sorry to hear that Rich, that is tough!

Hey look on the bright side, at least now when you get her back, you will have the reassurance that she's been totally worked over proper......and ready for some action.....:flame Dev

Anyway m8, hope it's not to damaging on the wallet, take care and take it easy this time as she is one fine machine.

Supra Pilot
25-02-03, 20:52
By the way Richie, are you limiting the number of cars running?
As I think this one will be bigger, as news circulated about the last session......

Justin
25-02-03, 21:10
Dom, I remember meeting you at Stevenage last year after you had just been and you had a big beam on your face so I reckon I'll give it a whirl. Do you need skid lids?

Can you pay on the day?

Cheers.

Supra Pilot
25-02-03, 21:15
No helmets AFAIK. Last one was quite casual.....
It's just masive open space really, got to a twat to flip really:moo:

I paid on the day, but I reckon this time may be better in advance as it may have a bigger turnout.
And this time you know(will I know) what to expect, so it may be well worth it to pay asap.

Hi Richie,

Sorry cannot make this one still saving the money to service my car and add a performance exhaust.

To try and make it a bit faster.

Will you be running another later on in the year?

Richie
27-02-03, 10:49
Yes possibly Brian. Martin Vincent, editor of Japanese Peformance magazine has commissioned 5-7 pages on covering this event

Brian Jackett
27-02-03, 11:08
So they would probably like a 355 there. As some people (not in the know) assume that a ferrari is going to be faster then jap cars.

And then they learn :)

Like the scooby site did a piece on the last top speed challenge.

*hit, I really wish I could go now.

Dom, what time are you going to turn up mate?

Supra Pilot
01-03-03, 16:52
[QUOTE] Dom, what time are you going to turn up mate?[QUOTE]

Dunno yet bud.....
But the last time there was a a big meet in the TESCO's car park as I remember, this is where the A12 meets 'A14' or somat just outside 'Ipswich' itself.....(will post a link closer to time)
We met there and went in a massive convoy to Woodbridge, which was only 10/15mins away...........

So if that meet is on again(I am sure it will be), then I'll do whatever time everyone will do.....
I am also waiting to here from some of our lot(here) thats coming from further 'South' as to what time they want to rally.....

Steve Cargill
01-03-03, 18:40
What time do we need to be there and what time would the Tesco meet be? I'll work my times back from that.

I'm coming up from M3 and could go either way round the M25 from there.

Supra Pilot
01-03-03, 20:16
I will post the link up later, but out of interest I will be from M11 jct 8(Stansted Airport jct) onto the A120, which meets the A12, which goes directly to the meeting point.

(click the zoom out button twice on that map-link and you will see 'woodbridge' in the top left corner...)

Those coming from midlands/north will be coming
down the A14, those from south and london, will
be coming up the A12. The A14 and A12 meet at
the roundabout where this tesco is situated.

Richie
02-03-03, 08:37
See thread below for convoy details. No lids required unless your on a bike. Keep an eye on this as nearer the time the exact timings etc will become apparent

Who's going to this from the south?

Dom, do you know anywhere on the A12 to meet up?

Steve 'the champ' W are you going?

Steve C, Christian, do you want to meet up somewhere?

Keith C, I assume you're going? - Any plans?

Steve M
09-03-03, 17:11

mr sinister and myself will be coming up for a good thrashing, and it would be nice to go up in convoy as we dont know where were going.

Matt,

I was thinking of going to this one as well, may could follow you and Steve M up as not got a clue where to go.

Matt Harwood
10-03-03, 11:46
Cool, that makes four of us with no idea where we're going! :conf:

So far we'll have 3 Supra's and 3 imprezza's from the Maidstone area - Notcutts might be a good meeting point.

We should be able to meet up with Keith C somewhere around the Dartford crossing, Possibly Steve Cargill and then hopefully meet up with Dom somewhere on the A12

Gilham007
10-03-03, 11:50
I might have a mate in his RX7 and another in an evo 6, Notcutts sounds a good place what sort of time are u thinking of leaving.

Matt Harwood
10-03-03, 11:53
I don't know what time it starts actually... Keith? - Richie?

Supra Pilot
10-03-03, 11:54
Hi Matt
I am assuming you lot(down south) will be travelling up the A12?

If that is so... then I won't see you guys till 'Colchester' as I am coming from 'west' along the A120.
A120 meets A12 at Colchester.

As it draws closer to the end of the week, I will tie in a time with the guys that are meeting at the Tesco's car park in 'Ipswich' and let you know a good time for us to set off.....

Dom

Matt Harwood
10-03-03, 11:57

Supra pilot, I'm going to take your advice and enjoy the last day of my freedom.....i'll probably try and meet up with the Kent convoy.....see you at tesco's

PS Matt H can you bring my Sub along....

Matt Harwood
10-03-03, 19:58
Of course I can Mate :) - So long as you take it before I get a run!

My car's lardy enough as it is! :innocent:

Steve Cargill
11-03-03, 19:58
I can come either way round the M25 to A12/J28, it's about the same distance so guess I'll go South and meet with Matt etc. It's 52 miles from J28 up the A12 to the Tesco car park at Ipswich so I guess we want to hit the A12 at 8ish to get there on time for 9ish.

Matt, I don't know that side of London at all, any ideas where to meet. Is there anywhere at the Dartford crossing we can wait? I'll PM you my mobile if you haven't got it, does yours end in 500?

I'll be leaving M3/M25 at about 7:15ish ( OH MY GOD!!!) if anyone else is in the area.

Matt Harwood
12-03-03, 00:09
Steve, I've got your number and it looks like you've got mine, I'll give Keith a ring tomorrow to see if he knows a good place near Dartford and get an idea on times...

Scott, you could meet up with Steve before you guys reach us..

Scooter
12-03-03, 13:46
Sounds good.....I'll do a few PM's for mobile numbers.....

Matt Harwood
12-03-03, 15:25
Right, I've spoken to Keith C, We're aiming to meet up at Dartford just before the tolls. (J2 or J2a??).
As you come off the M25, go up the slip road and there's a big Esso station on the left. We're aiming to meet there at 7.30.

Steve, you may need to get up even earlier!

So, Maidstone Mob, Notcuts at about 7.00 then  We'll be needing to leave at 7.10 at the latest!

Mr Sinister
12-03-03, 15:44
Hi all, just had another couple of cars confirm that they are coming up in the convoy, another Scooby and an Evo 6, possibly an HKS Evo 6 as well, see you all there bright and early:flame Dev

Scooter
12-03-03, 17:19
Can anyone confirm that we'll be OK to pay on the day, and that we don't need to show our drivers licence

Steve Cargill
12-03-03, 19:26
Scooter, looks like I'll be passing the A3 ( or will you join at Dorking?) at about 6:55ish I'd say. I'll PM you my mobile and we'll try and meet up if you want.

Matt, do I need cash for the crossing? Also is the Esso off the M25 on the way to the crossing. (I've really never been across the Thames there - is's exactly opposite me on the M25)

Matt Harwood
12-03-03, 21:04
Scott, I asked Richie the same question, he said it was OK to pay on arrival.

Steve, You'll need to come off the M25, just BEFORE the Dartford Tunnel. (toll fee is £1).
It's signposted to Dartford, the Esso station is on the left hand corner as you come to the top of the slip road, on the corner of Princes Road.

Steve M
12-03-03, 22:03

D) Snap the car in half!

Could do a fast&furious and leave the bolts loose so that it flys off at 120. Be good for the cameras!:flame Dev

See ya 2morrow guys :)
