Under-car Decat Pic?

You'll want to get the downpipe off first, won't you?

If it hasn't been disturbed for years, the studs could be rusted solid.

1. Use a LOT of penetrant (like PlusGas) and leave it overnight.

2. Tap the boogers with a hammer.

3. Then with the best possible socket try to *tighten* them just a touch

4. Finally try to undo them.

5. Good luck

If a stud snaps, it could be ackward to drill it out and retap if you haven't got the car on a lift.

I had mine done elsewhere, didn't relish the thought of snapped studs with me crawling under a jacked car.

Yeah i've been through that scenario on both my s13 and s14:( both snapped a stud! had to drill out and just stuck a bolt through, and one of them i had on a lift and had a torch to get it nice and hot first!

think i will take this to an exhaust place and get them to do it, at least they will have ever thing on hand should anything break.
