corrupt message had to be removed

seems one of the messages in here got corrupted so when the forum was repaired the system removed it. Hope there wasnt any amazing technical revelation in the message. the last person to post to it was RJ at 9.14pm today, wednesday 27th June.

 

Not sure why it corrupted but I will keep an eye on things.

Im pretty sure the message was something to do with your accident, not sure what it was doing in mkiv technical though as I cant remember what the first post was about.

 

I just hope this BBS stands up to lots of people using it, otherwise Im going to have to pay for UBB, that seems to cope with thousands of people.

 

Hope your car can be glued back together.

Looking at what needs fixing I'm sort of hoping it doesn't, plus the ins. companies are out for blood and want me to pay over 3K for a standard UK spec Supra!! :(

but to get anything insured is going to cost a lot of money isnt it? All imports would have to be out of the question, so that means getting some sort of sedate car with zero performance.

 

They cant whack up your premium until your current one has run out anyway, and didnt you have protected NCB?

The only thing I like that I can aford to insure is a Honda Integra Type R (UK spec) I have been quoted sub 2K on one of those, so if I get a good payout on one I can get one and insure it.

Ins. runs out on the 7th :(

 

No I only had 4 years NBC but there was a cockup last year with the paper work and I ended up never getting NCB cover (before that we had one car under Teresa's name, and I lost the NCB I did have by not having insurance for a long time) :( :(

thats a bugger, but you would be surpised how quickly you can build up no-claims by playing with the insurance companies, all 3 of my cars now have full protected NCB, and I only bought the Supra 2 years ago...!!

 

How about the insurance on a UK spec supra, shouldnt be quite as bad should it?

Various places, most of the ones that are usually mentioned, still some to go but not looking good.

 

Really gone off the idea of getting another one, I feel the only thing that could have been at fault was my driving and/or the road surface both of which I can do little about.

 

So I am going to go for something I can chuck about a bit more without having to respect it as much as a 350bhp RWD. After all I've been driving FWD cars (both performance and not) like a looney for 8 years with out a single accident, get me behind a RWD and I'ge had two in 9 months. Come to the descission that to last long in a Supra you have to be one of three types of drivers, a GOOD one, a SLOW one, or a damn LUCKY one. :biggrin:

I seem to recall reading of many drivers moving from FWD cars to a  Supra and having accidents in the first few moths of use one or two in the first day.

 

I have been driving RWD cars for 20 years, only drove FWD in the last 8 years. I went from a 200 bhp RWD car to a 300+ bhp Supra. Even with all that RWD experience the Supra and the extra 100 bhp gave me a few frights in the first few months. All that power needs respect!

 

I think the only way to really get to know the car is to spend some time on the track, where mistakes will hurt your pride, but probably not your car.

 

Finding  the Supra’s limits on the road its just too risky.

Exactly what I did, but it reacted on the road completely differently (probably due to the difference in wheels and tyres).

Have you considered a NA MKIV ??????

 

There's lots of nice looking examples around, and obviously should be a lot cheaper both to buy and insure.

 

Just an idea.

No offence to N/A owners but I think the Supra is a bit heavy (1500+kg) for the 225bhp N/A engine, I'd rather have a lighter car like the Honda Integra Type R with 190bhp and 1070kg in lightest trim, no ABS, no AirCon, (that said the one I am looking at has both :))

 

It really comes down to personal preference in the end and I bought a Supra TT because it was Turbocharged.
