mikeyb10supra Posted March 7, 2006 Share Posted March 7, 2006 What are peoples views on the best way to carry out work on the underside of the car, apart from a big hydraulic lift etc!! I was thinking axel stands and trolly jack.....any other ideas?? carl0s Posted March 7, 2006 Share Posted March 7, 2006 I drive up onto a couple of planks of wood. that gives me just enough to get the jack under the heavy crossmember in-line with the front wheels. I slide the jack under from behind the front wheel with the arm just about movable into the wheel arch. Then I get under from the front and stick an axle stand or two on that same crossmember. merckx Posted March 7, 2006 Share Posted March 7, 2006 I've got quality steel ramps with 2" planks reinforced with steel angle to reduce the slope. I bolt the planks to the ramps first.
