Just got back from Chris' place in Shropshire. Had a full service, fast road suspension and geometry and a CW SMIC fitted. To be fare the old suspension according to Chris was well past its best as was the smic, but the handling has been transformed - it really does feel like a different car. Goes a bit better too :D

Very pleased and wouldn't hesitate to recomend Chris if anyone is thinking of upgrading their suspension - or needs a service

fancy pm'ing how much that cost you as i need the same doing???

£1250 as Chris posted - I think its pretty good value considering the time spent on the fitting and the geometry.

Any set of coilovers is going to cost more and I think for most people once you get them set just right you're never going to change them anyway. At least with Chris' stuff you know the ride height, spring rates, damping and geo are all matched, and most importantly optimised for the shitty british roads. :)

I second this. I had the same things done a few months ago. The suspension had such a difference!

Dampers need to be matched to the cars weight, the spring rate, and the wheel ratio, in order to damp the oscillations of the spring as you go over bumps and enter and leave corners, quickly. When you change to a different strength spring you should change the dampers internal valving to match those springs, likewise the damper can be tuned for high speed cornering, or a soft, gentle ride, or a bit of a compromise. My dampers valving are designed to compliment my springs for fast road usage and normal track day usage. They are NOT a full race set up, nor are they ideal for the hard core drag racer, or the drift scene exponent. They WILL still give a comfortable but firm ride, they WILL put the power down better than stock, or most any reasonably priced aftermarket kit I have tried, they ARE cost effective, they DO last a long time. The dampers CAN be rebuilt. I have sold probably 18 / 20 kits, and every person so far has been very flattering about them, some rave about them :) I can set the car up for good tyre wear, or a more agressive geo set up for more committed track day usage, at the expense of inner edge wear when used predominantly in straight line (road usage).

I think I followed that. Can you just go over the bit from "Dampers need to be matched to the cars weight, the spring rate....."?

Just kidding. So, the spring are replaced at the same time. I was wondering about that. Does you set-up cater for a very slight (max 20mm) drop in ride height? I know you have strong views on fiddling with that sort of thing and understandably so.
