HIDS and Headlights

I have a set of TRD Hids on their way but without bulbs, I wanted to know, is it just the bulbs that are different (i.e I can get whatever bulbs I want) or are the power units rated to only support a certain K of bulb? (on a sidenote - best place to order HID bulbs?)

Also, are they OK to be behind plastic headlights?

Cheers

Well, the Kelvin rating is a measure of the colour of light the HID produces. I can't imagine it makes any difference to which balasts are used - but I'm not 100% on that.

There was a thread about replacement HID bulbs, I'll see if I can find it.

I've checked with my supplier and he thinks (still not 100% sure though) the HID bulbs are specific to the TRD kit. Here are some pics, I don't have a set here, so can not check the fit with other bulbs that I can source here. Your best bet is probably to test fit some of the bulbs that you can find there, to see if you can find ones that are compatible.

If you get stuck give me a shout and I'll try to get you a good deal on a set of new TRD HID bulbs.
