4000 miles and its lost enough oil to put the light on? Something strange going on there then. If it was me I'd give it a full oil/filter change now and try and work out where all the old oil went.

 

Edit to add, work out were the oil went FIRST then do the oil change, no point throwing good money away.

Sorry to do a Lazarus on this thread but the same thing happened to me tonight.

 

Orange oil light came on. Drove to Halfords and waited around for a bit. Checked oil and it was very low. Got some more and topped up.

 

Oil change was almost 5000 miles ago and I'm actually booked in next week.

 

Could it be that 5W40 is too thin for the turbo seal things. I note that Toyota recommend 10W40 FS. Will go for that next time I think.
