Brake discs...

I'm getting mixed feedback from various sources, Toyota have said for the last 12 months they need replacing, all of them because they're ligged and corroded, and I've been told by another mechanic they're fine as most of the corrosion is around the outside, and not actually on the surface of the disk. I mean they've held up fine and got me round the 'Ring ok.

Although during the winter they seem to be looking a little worse for wear.. what do you think? :sos:

If there is a significant lip to the edge of them then they require replacing....if not no worries.

The last pic has marks on it like you've had some cailper seizing...

Yeah, you're right, its the handbrake causing that on the last pic.

I think I'll get them replaced. Ta for the comments.

I can't say as I have only ever used stock discs/pads and then moved to CW Fast Road pads on new stock discs.

I see that Tel runs with what looks like dba gold but, not sure what pad he is using ? Tel ?

(I'm sure I remember him saying that he has been through most combo's with his old purple car. And his black car is not slow so, the dba's & ?? pads must be a good combo)

How deep is the 'lip'?

Why don't you just measure the thickness and compare it to the spec for minimum thickness?
