Mapping With An Extra Inch

To be Honest, I doubt it would make much difference. They're both going to be free flow exhausts. OK so you may be able to squeeze another 2hp if you did get it re-mapped, but I can't see it could make any critical difference.

Obviously if you have the choice of getting it mapped after the exhaust is changed, that would be prefereble, but don't lose any sleep over it.

Mieow guy's!! :D

In Burt's defence this isn't in technical so any answer is valid ;) :p

If you feel any answer out of tech is valid (despite it being totally incorrect) then I look forward to seeing how you react in future when anyone else does the same. Or are there different "Alex" rules for different turbo buyers - or types of turbos bought?

Some people put a lot of weight into answers they get from this forum, especially those with little knoledge of their cars.

If people guess or post up totally incorrect answers to valid questions this can lead to alsorts of problems from mild embaresment thru lost money to damaged parts.

I'm all for technical discusion between people that KNOW or at least have experience with the subject and questions from those that dont.

Posting up what your mate's mate once said down the pub just to increase your post count doent help anyone.

Most proper ECU's can "self learn". Piggybacks aren't quite so clever but with the stock ECU forever tweaking things they can handle changes in the weather and therefore changes in charge temperature.

Lets make a list of the changes that could force a re-map (copy and add to)

You'd only need a remap if you;

1) Changed the static fuel pressure

2) Changed the size of your injectors

3) Change the size of your turbo

4) Increased the boost pressure to beyond what has already been mapped for

5) Changed your capacity

6) Changed the compression ratio

7) Fitted WILD cams (mild shouldn't really require one but you could if you wanted)

Any more for any more?

I would say that although most minor changes do not require a remap, ie exhaust etc if you had the ability to change the map with a programmable ECU i see no reason not to tweak it as you may find some small gains.

:) just my thought anyway
