Does anyone know if switching the overdrive button on the auto box on and off, will it effect the fuel consumption and if so by how much?
Yes and No. The overdrive button turns the overdrive on and off. Overdrive is simply the name of the 4th. So with it is turned off you'll never shift into 4th gear. The other 3 gears will not use any more fuel than they would have used if the overdrive was turned on. However, at the point when the car would have changed into 4th your fuel consumpution will obviously go up cause it's stuck in third doing much higher revs.

i always thought putting overdrive on dropped you down a gear same as flooring the pedal no matter what gear you were in, or it seems that way at least.
