Ok, Can you please discuss.

Whats best and why (if) is it better than a cheap one from ebay?

Just that i am looking at getting one but didnt realise there were such cheap ones available! Cheers

Depends if you want one which has a set amout of time on the countdown, or you have one which links into you throttle, and increase the time if you drive harder.

I had the later, and is the more expensive type.

You get what you pay for.

People who already have them (or sell them perhaps) tend to get a bit stroppy when faced with the truth (not unlike 'performance' filters and other tat)

Just a quick note for a notable exception:

A turbo timer might make a *modest* contribution in the case of a large single with no water jacket.

Ok well, have read all threads that looked relevant and it seems that you, John, are under the impression that they do no good.

I must say, with my limited knowledge, that what you say makes a lot of sense. I always take it slow for a while before shutting my car off and like to leave it to idle for a bit (maybe 30 secs) aswell. (obviously this is not always possible, e.g. late at night in a residential area!)

Im thinking though, cause i discovered last night that they can be picked up for a cheap as 20 pounds that i may as well have one for those times that its not poss to have the cool down period.

Also lets face it, its quite a good gadget to have! With the good old, "you have left your car running comments"

They're all much of a muchness..I'd personally go with one that would look best in your dashboard.

all though i have one i very rarely use it, its more a gadget or a show off thing...you know get of car lock it and walk off and watch people looking at you as if your mad and then the car turns itself off:rlol: BTW doing that is also illegal. so yes a waste of time really but i like them:)
