View Full Version : quick bit of help please!
I'm in the middle if changing my hoses with the hose technique set. There is 1 large hose in the very top left hand corner, marked in the picture. Should i change this hose, i slowly started to pull it off and it started making a pressure release type noise, i wasnt sure if there was any liquid in this hose or if it would cause any air locks or anything by pulling it off.

Thanks
Thats for your Brakes...and trust me, there isnt enough to change both the left and the right end of the pipe.....
Apparently Hose Techniques DONT recommend that you change this so hence they deliberately didnt supply enough pipe...
ah ok cheers imi, will it matter that when i slightly took it off that some pressure was released, it was very minimal
Nice cold air intake.... where did you get it from?
mmmm, thats not my engine bay! :) i have got the same filter (apexi) but not with the heat surround

What you coul do is make a slit long ways on the pipeing and wrap it around the original.

I dont think it should matter....however I cant confirm.
James, i dont think any of the pipes are wide enough to go over it. So if i cant use it for this, What is the largest pipe in the kit for? its not all that long at all
good question...
I think its to cover some of the other pipes to provide sheilding (ones that need a bit of protection, round the engine bay & radiator)
send it to me if you dont need it.....I have a few ideas ;)

DO NOT change this pipe, it's the brake servo vacuum pipe and the noise you heard when disconnectin it was atmosphere equlising the balance by ENTERING the servo, which is normally held under a vacuum by the one way valve in the pipe. The stock pipe is VACUUM pipe with an anti collapse spiral in it to stop atmospheric pressure crushing it. if you change it for soft wall pipe you may lose the vac assistance on the brakes, which you will find is a very good diuretic.

Chris i changed mine for some silicone hose from envy it has like a braid in it do yo think this could be causing my crappy brake feel
ok cheers guys, i didnt change it, and the largest hose appeared to be for the 2 breather type pipes that connect either side of the cam covers. Well at least thats where mine went! :) It was done like that on the miami gt photo of the hose kit.
I've still got about 4 or 5 to fit, but 95% of them are done. It looks so much better. The red, white and polished colour scheme is going to look very good! :)
Chris - would i have done any harm when i slightly released that pipe? I've driven the car since and all is working ok.

No it won't do any harm, it will recreate the vacuum when the engine is started.

It should be a hose that is quite impossible to crush with your fingers, with a wire spiral in it and heavy side walls, just compare to the original one. If it partially collapses it could well give a very heavy pedal, but not a soft, squidgy pedal. It wants changing back, for sure, if it's the wrong hose, which it almost certainly is...
Cheers Chris, big help as always
