Sub_Culture Posted January 7, 2006 Share Posted January 7, 2006 Hi all, I think the TT accelerates great, but the initial pick up seems really unresponsive. Is this because I have an auto? How does everyone do it? Currently, I put the car in drive, keep the brake held down with my left foot so the right is ready to nail the throttle when I need to go. ivan Posted January 7, 2006 Share Posted January 7, 2006 Apparently (waiting to be shot down) you hold the brake with left foot, let the revs climb to 1000-2000 before letting rip. veilsideTT Posted January 7, 2006 Share Posted January 7, 2006 Get a high stall torque converter! This allows the revs to build up higher before the gearbox "bites" so to speak, thus creating boost off the line! Your stock torque converter stall is set at around 2650rpm as far as i remember. Brake boosting is OK but i wouldn't risk frying my gearbox doing it. You may want to get an extra Tranny cooler and fan to keep the gearbox temps down as High stall = Higher auto fluid temps! Most autos on here that have gone bang have been down to people attempting burnouts or doing doughnuts in their autos BTW, how often do you change your autobox fluid james? When your taking off in the manual mode, do you keep your right foot nailed to the floor? I find it a real difficult habbit to do this after driving a manual for so many years! I love this car in manual mode, more than I prefer a manual car cos of the lazy left leg, personally i drive it in manual mode 80% of the time, mostly in gear 2 with (overdrive off) as it sounds lovely here ! letmeshowyou Posted January 8, 2006 Share Posted January 8, 2006 There are 4 forward gears with overdrive included Overdrive is 4th gear - you cant engage it on your own - the gearbox does it when it needs to when you've got drive selected.
