Hi all,

I was just wondering if any of you more in tho know can give me a rough idea on whether i could get a supra of the following spec for around £4,000....

I'm basically after a twin turbo version, paintwork in good condition, bodykit and non standard alloys, and a milage of around 70,000 ish?

If i'm not likely to get one like this for £4,000 what would i be able to get me hands on for this amount of money?

Thanks in advance

Dave

£4k will get you a half decent NA, a TT a that price will most likely be a dog, or an unknown risk. I have heard of a couple of TT's going for just under £5k but this was auction stuff. big, big risk. You'd need to double that budget to get a reasonable TT auto.

ok thanks for the info guys.

Well it looks like its plan B then...upgrade my MR2 to an MR2 turbo, There is one i know of going for just over £3000 with 250bhp, its not the 328bhp i could have with a supra but hey beggers cant be choosers! lol

Thanks again

TBH it's unlikely you're going to get any TT worth having for £4000

True there are stories of cars sold for that sort of money, and, in the trade, they change hands for less than that. But, unless you know a friendly dealer, or someone who's going to PX their Supra for another car, and is willing to let you buy it from them for the dealer's offer, you're at best taking a big risk, and at worse buying enough heartache for a lifetime.

Supras were around £40000 when sold in the UK, with parts and servicing costs to match. You may be able to pick one up for next to nothing these days, but if it needs work doing, you'll spend that £4000 and probably twice that again, just putting it right

A fair estimate of a well maintained TT Supra, at the bottom end of the price range is £7000+, maybe £6000 if the seller is desperate.

A pile of Sh*t :D

The 4250 was one of mine and yes it was an incredible car for that money, a good car for 6k and a bit of a shed for 10k..... you get what you pay for.

Personally I liked it, nothing was broken and yes it had a respray.... but mate, alot of 10 year old 125k cars do need a respray!

I got it in for under 2k due to VERY VERY light fron end. The paint was bad.

So:-

1 X bumper

1 X light

1 X underplastic and a respray.

Like a new car.

Funnily enough, Ive got it back next week cos the new owner has crashed it!

Typical Fiest adriver.... thats what he upgraded from!

you could get a gs300 twin turbo (same as the Mkiv underneath) for under your budget, if you just want power.

Its not got alot of sportiness in looks or handling though......

Still need to be careful when getting one, but IMO they are less likely to have been messed about with and thrashed than the average supra...

I know mine does, lol....

But when you're *buying* the car, a respray is a bright red "danger" sign. Resprays on lower-priced cars tend to happen after accidents, not for pure fun.

Maybe if you're not a regular car buyer.

I find that particularly with specialist cars that are anything older than about 8 years, I almost expect it to have had at least a partial respray. Yes, to some it can make them suspicious, but it can also be the sign of a very fussy owner. I have had parts resprayed because of small stone chips etc.

In fact the paint on the front of my car is less than 2 years old, but I'll probably have it done again in 2006 because of a handful of stone chips.
