Engine longevity?

I wouldn't expect them to last long mate, especially if driven hard or often. But then again showcars and record-braking creations are narrowly-focused, made for a specific purpose, they are not all-around vehicles like the stock design (there is no reason why a stock supra won't be running strong after 300.000 miles)

I was about to say 300K but then realised you meant highly modified engines. Didn't one of dudes last about 2 weeks?

Yeah at 2.4bar!!! Hardly a fair test now is it!

Unmodded should last forever, with good servicing.

Nothing lasts without good servicing.

I think a well designed Supra would last VERY long periiods at upwards of 600HP.

Mapped properly, serviced properly, and built with parts well within their design capabilities, there is no reason they should not last ages.

Now, when pushing stock engines with signal fudgers etc, then yes, it will nuke itself pretty quick!

That's a pretty wild claim. Map and bolt on and fit "uprated" parts all you like but you cannot change certain base engine dimensions like crankpin, piston pin and main bearing length and diameter. All of these are tied in closely with the engine's original power output but they are some of the few things you cannot change.

Even if you fit bearings with a higher load capacity you cannot change the oil film properties apart from using different grade oils.

They will last a long time, yes, but how many high mileage 600hp+ cars are there in reality?
