Just done a quote as they now have the SZ on their site, right heres the normal bit I'm 21 with 3 years no claims, male, car is garaged, is alarmed and has sideskirts. I will use it up to 6000 mile for SD&P only and they quote me........... £1831.20!!!!!!!

Now I do pay at the mo 840 with lancaster fully comp with my car garanteed to a value of £5800.

My question is what planet are these insurance people on?

I am with elephant and I crashed my suprat TT last year, paid out within 2 months.

mind you I am still with them and I pay about 1800.

Got mine with elephant for £800 fully comp im 23, they must have had a good day when I got my quote

I think you got a good quote from lancaster rather than a bad one from elephant!

My first quote from Elephant was pretty good, but then you can't have anymore than 6 mods i think it is (and they have to actually be able to understand them) and they wont cover the mods in an accident.

SZ's are usually much more expensive to insure. Think the insurers put it down to there never having been a naturally aspirated UK model and associate more expense with repairing one because of this, never mind that it's the slow model

Elephant are a complete joke. Charged me an extra £30 for 2 months left on the policy for RLTC and said i couldnt have a FMIC because it came under their TURBO CHARGED catagory. How dumb is that, i said i already have turbos but no joy! lol

Well I know I'm comparing to a UK, but my insurance is way higher than Keiths, despite having a clean license and 4 yrs NCB more than him, and yes I'm with Sky!

I've got a FMIC insured with them. Explained to them that the stock one was buggered, and I couldn't afford a toyota replacement for £1k, but I can get a nice new shiney FMIC for much less. Politely explained that if they didn't insure it I'd have to sell the car and cancel the policy because I couldn't afford to keep it.

Suprise! They suddenly understood that a FMIC was simply a "more efficient unit" and did not actually add BHP (which is true surely). Just make sure you tell them clearly several times that it's different to a stock unit.

Yes. I found a UK spec would be some 200/300 pounds cheaper than imports.

Import TT compared to NA import at the same insurance company, NA is cheaper.

Sounds like age has a lot to do with it. I'm 32, 6 years NCB. My SZ is insured with Sky, Mods declared for £650.

Going by previous threads on here and from my own experience, sky are terrible when it comes to under 25's (I'm 24 and my quote was £2500).

That's the same as me, same age, car NCB etc... but with protected NCB - £550 with masterquote

Gutted, well its saved me money, bought a stock one instead. will do me fine for now!

After owning 2x TT's and getting quotes for an N/A, I found most companies were at least twice the price of the TT for me. I think this is the norm!

a uk tt was 1600 with business class 1, 21 0yr ncb,

a import sz or tt were both 2600 with business class 1...

think its the import factor that bumps the prices up

Even though Sky is slightly more expensive I'd stick with them as Jae and co have been top notch with me to date.
