£15 for a track session?
Cool :)
Sounds good to me...
Gaz.
Looks good to me. You fancy organising it all for the club or do you need somebody else to sort it?
JB
Woo-hoo, just down the road, makes a nice change. Sounds like it could be an awesome event if it gets enough support. Like Billing, but with the added bonus of track action! :) :D

Just saw it on uksupras - but happy to help arrange - John you up for this?
If we look to get 2 sessions for 12 cars each - cost (inc entry and track sesh £20.00)
Suppose should start with expressions of interest
OK - no bullshitting around with 'put me down and I'll see' this will be money up front and death if you pull out!
Interested - add name

I'm an absolute definite to attend (will probably bring a Prelude and 1 or 2 200SXs with me too), but I don't see there's anyway they'll let me on the track. :( IIRC there's a strict noise restriction at Castle Combe (99dB?) and my baby must be just about the loudest Supe in the country... (any challengers? ) I'll try to scrimp and save and buy something like a Nur Spec with a baffle beforehand, but can't promise anything, so whack me down for entry only.
:looney:
I will go along for the show part of it, but I wont be going on the track for various reasons....If you have been to a Castle Coombe CCC day you will know why.
So you may want to ask
Who wants to attend the show
Who wants track time

Pah! Lightweights, the lot of ya! :D
Seriously though, just because you go on a track doesn't mean you have to cane the car or push it too much - it is possible to enjoy it without going mad.... (do as I say and not as I do!!)

Mark, It's not your own driving you need to worry about.

Exactly, and you aint kidding.
I've seen some fabulous examples of driving there ;)
Gaz.
I have some great video footage from one of the CCC days, 4 a-breast in to a tight right hander, and the cars just keep streaming through the shot. Scary stuff indeed.
If it was just Supras on the track it might be different...

Ah didn't realise it would be mixed sessions, I assumed that it would be club sessions, like Trax....
Im working on the principle that its 12 spaces per club, but that double that amount will be on track so you cant be sure who else is on there with you. If its just Supras then its fine, but if any other makes are on there then its a little bit trickier.
JB
Are there any restrictions on driving on the track, i.e. need a helmet, engine cut switches, roll cage, noise levels etc?
Crash helmet is all you need.
JB
Excellent. i should be able to get hold of one of those. see you there.
I'd assumed from what had been said that you could book a club exclusive session of 12 cars and you'd only have Supras on the track. Would feel a lot safer then (CCC days at the Combe are scary, although great fun to watch! :p I think I counted 33 cars on the track at one event!), although on the downside would mean I'd have nothing to overtake.
I think you need helmets, passengers are allowed (again with helmets), there's a basic car check to make sure nothing's gonna drop off and the dreaded noise level test (something like 99dB at 3,000rpm IIRC, I probably don't). Oh and a drivers' licence.
Thinking it through if they are only after £180 per session, you could just have 2 drivers willing to cough up £90 each for 5 laps of head-to-head action on an empty track? And it is a good track (ableit with a slight lack of run-off areas)

I've found the big organised meets tend to be in the Midlands (wasn't one of them in the icy wastelands north of Nottingham last year??), and every bloody Jap owners organised meet is in the South East! :baa:

I'd recommend some trackday insurance too:moo:

:) Castle Coombe!! just down the road from me:D , yep,i'll be there, but not sure about the track action,as i've seen how some of the idiots drive:eek: (and i know some of the local nutters too!) Al.

Is there any more news on this. I definitely want to go and so does the old man and we are both looking to get track time.
Are we booking as individuals and then sorting out running together when we get there or are we going to get a specific Supra track session?
It seems that a lot of the other clubs, (RX7, GTO etc) have got their teack time and areas all sorted for this event.
I'm going to book a couple of tickets today and 2 cars for a track session ( my sup and a R33), Who is still up for this event?
Has everyone else already got their tickets and track time booked? It would be cool to get a few cars out together.

Can i bookup through here???? For track time aswell?
There is now no spare track time available which is a real shame, although there is a reserve list which would be worth getting on

Is anyone going down from the midlands ?
Does anyone know if we (supra's) have a set area to park and gather when we are there or is it too late and we will just have to turn up like jo bloggs?
I have just checked with the Organisers of this event and there is no provision for the Supras and there is no space left for us to get an area. :mad
The best option for us is to convoy up together somewhere before hand and go in together, but obviously we will be with Jo Bloggs in the public car park rather than in the arena.
I have requested the details for Trax later in the year so we can insure we make our presence there.
If anyone wants to meet up and park up to together just let me know and we can try and sort out an appropriate rendez vous point.
When I went to a CCC day there it was better to be able to park up on the banking rather than in the main area, you can site in your car and watch the carnage rather than stand out in the open and experience wind burn.
JB
I will follow you then! and bring my £10
I cant make this one, my wife beat me to the calendar so Im left holding the baby.
JB
Will see you at bracknell instead then for the money.
Will take some pics and post when we get back.

Go on JB, I'll bring trailer with me to put all the pieces on once the session is over!!!
I still feel sorry for that poor Saxo.!!! :D
JB - Why not bring him with you, if the weather is good I'll be taking my nipper with me. Got to get them into cars at an early age.!!!

Anybody going up from Suffolk / Essex area as i am going from Saxmundham could meet up - John 01728 604033
Would be nice to all park together once we get there too! We'll probably be the only major group without a preassigned area. Any suggestions? Anyone got any bollards to reserve a few spaces together?!

looks like i am now going, i take it you can just pay on the gate ?
Yeah you can, see ya there! :lalala:
I'm going for sure! My mate and i are going together,i'm taking the Supra he's taking his Celica WRC GT4,we are meeting up with a load of other Celics owners:( .......then on to Coombe.
Keep an eye out for me,as i may be parked in a group of Celicas, Reg J666 SUP. Al.(Oh, i'll be the one with the skin head)
Wow, that was a pretty good day out. Loads of nice cars - better than Bolney even, the weather wasn't too atrocious, and some good action on the track. I hope the guy in the Evo is okay (his car sure wasn't!) and it's a good job Simon Norris has deep pockets. Didn't actually see how he managed to damage front bumper, front left wing, door, rear quarter panel and both alloys, but something had fallen from his car at Quarry earlier that lap?
Any other incidents I missed? Didn't spend that long watching the track action, was too busy checking out all the nice cars.
:looney:
yep the Rayland escort cossie ripped its pasenger wing off ! dont know how he did it but was laughing and giving us the thumbs as he pulled in.
a yellow GTR spun around coming out of a bend onto the straight, it lost it onto the grass and then shot back across the track ! he was facing the wrong way and a black celica was one foot off from having a head on with it ! i bet he is glad he spent the money on those big disks ! but i think he will now have to fork out on some new pants :p
i have got it all on video but dont know how to put it on here
ahh, track time at Castle Coombe, always good for a laugh.
Sounds like a good day out, shame I missed it.
JB
:) .......top day out, superb cars everywhere. Al.
A good day out indeed.
Real shame there wasn't a Supra presence there, definitiely something as a club we missed out on.
The Norris Evo did look a bit of a mess. I guess the important bit (engine) wasn't damaged in the prang.
Does anyone own the Silver Sup with the blitz frobnt bumper and the Volks 18" like mine. From a distance I thought someone had moved my car into the show area!
The Lime green Sup witht he Paul E supplied skirts and front bumper looked the nuts, apparently only just finished before the show.
