A motortrade secret ive been doing it for last 2 weeks now and yes !! it has helped my MPG. (see thread in members chat 'do yourself a favour") I would feel very proud if you did it and it worked for you too as it would have been my first major contribution !!! Are you sure that's right Alex? By the end of December I will be up to about 62psi in my rear tyres. Is that ok? Keep these motortrade insider tips coming though please mate. chilli Posted December 3, 2005 Share Posted December 3, 2005 since we get pants MPG regardless of a few PSI but people are crashing their cars due to lack of grip at this time of year, maybe we should all be deflating our tyres just slightly instead, just to try and get that extra ounce of grip! You use the correct pressure for the circumstances. 36psi (cold) is the 'catch all' figure suggested by Toyota for the stock wheels & tyres. chilli Posted December 3, 2005 Share Posted December 3, 2005 What about larger, lower profile tyres, pressure goes up or down? I'm running 34 all round at the mo, seems to work ok. JohnA Posted December 3, 2005 Share Posted December 3, 2005 The hardcore way to do it is using a non-contact thermometer and check the 'hot' temps versus 'cold' temps Also check that the temps on the edges are the same as the middle of the tyre (then you know you've got it right for those load/speed/tarmac/ambient conditions) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
