right guys....met a guy there last weekend in the local and we got chattin over a few bits and pieces..got chatting bout cars of course, started telling me bout this wicked supra he got, jspec 96 tt manual...got it last month, reckons it has bpu over 400bhp etc etc etc,at this stage he was gettin a bit cocky sayin it does this and that, so when he was finished talking muck, i told him what i had, which as u know is a 98 Impreza STi Type R with a few nice mods, 301bhp 365nm torque and i reckoned id leave him for dead!lol not a great top speed with the type r because of the group n gearbox but they do shift seriously quick through the gears..

anyway organised a lil race for sunday evening..we met up and had a few guys present just to witness the whole thing..got a good surface road where we knew nobody would be..

anyway got the hand signal and gone..i nailed to start and for the first 200 metres he looked like a little orange fireball in my rearview mirror, bit of a joke really..now the good stuff,he started sayin he got a lil too much wheel spin off the line because he wasnt ready etc so i said il go again no hassle, go again and the same outcome only he got closer to me this time comin near the end,a lil larger than a fireball this time ;)

anyway not saying im a great lad or anything but just some advice for you supra owners, dont think cos u have 3.0 litres of twin turbo that u can take smaller less powerful cars ;)

I would love to see the outcome of a proper test of power, e.g 70 mph +

The supra is never going to out accelerate from a standing start to 60 a 4wd car, :sly: Especially not this time of year.

Well I can't comment on your specific circumstances but the supe can and does take on the smaller / less powerful cars and usually wins too! I speak as someone who used to have such a 2l 4 pot 4wd motor myself, for several years. Problem is, a 2l 4 pot is always going to be fragile, I saw one go bang around goodwood, the engine block cracked and he wasn't even producing bpu power levels... You took the supe on with the most favourable circumstances for youself, on a roll you would have been toasted for sure. Fit RLTC to the supe and your 'snowball' may have been a manacing front (or rear) leaving you behind also ;)

I really dont understand this. Our Irish friend has come on here and continually "upped" the :chav: mobile Scooby and yet he is selling it to buy a Supra. If the :chav: mobile floats your boat that much, why not keep it and join the Scooby board?

Congratulations, you'd beat him off the lights and maybe to the first corner of a circuit - wait until you get to the straight and when rolling :)

I have a lot of time for the Impreza but it's a one trick pony.

ahh come on now, one trick pony??

they can take corners with the best, are good in a straight line too, i reckon even off the rollin start id take him, maybe after 100mph then yeeah i reckon id get shit on! the supra was a bit tatty i must admit, the owner cudda just been talkin shite! im lookin for the pic of the car here now

I am not trying to be nasty B but the continuous reference to how good the Scooby is against the Supra is annoying.

gear changes were fine, and the roads were in fine condition and my diff was in diff free, so its 64% rear and 36%front so im not 4wd racing him and i had slight bald rears ;)
